On a road trip, stopped by here for lunch.
Very cool retro looking diner, the reason for choosing here for lunch. Was not disappointed in the appearance, inside the same, lots of very nice retro photographs, signs, etc.
The food is typical Denny's, lots of very large meals, lots of breakfast. If this is what you are looking for, you will be happy! We just wanted something like a salad and sandwich, so ordered along those lines. I ordered a turkey club sandwich and substituted a side salad in place of the fries. The salad was gigantic, good, but almost a meal in itself. After about half the salad and half of my turkey club, was finished because it was so much food. My wife ordered a Cobb salad, and while again good, another gigantic meal. (can't say you don't get a lot for the money at a Denny's). She ate about 1/4, and like me was done. We had normal appetites, so probably would have been better off to order one item and split.
Our server was excellent, very nice, efficient and friendly. Could not ask for better, wish others could be just like her.
One initial downside was the background music. Like many restaurants/bars/clubs, they are probably aware that it has been shown that if you play loud exciting music, people actually will eat more. Of course that also depends on the setting, like in a bar/restaurant that you go for drinks, entertainment, and some food. Here however they were using this tactic...blasting out 80's rock music over the speakers...in a 50's style diner...just off the main freeway where people stop in to eat. It was extremely obnoxious, and we would have left, however our excellent server helped out when we yelled out to her above the cacophony if she could turn it down, which she immediately did. Much better then, as we had a little background music and could carry on a normal conversation.
Would I go there again...maybe. Only if the music was not blasting everyone.
Would I recommend...maybe. Only if you find when you walk in the the background music was truly in the background (unless you really crave high volume rock music while you eat lunch then...
Read moreYou want to sit just because the atmosphere. Design wise it is more space or allowed than in a tall city. The food quality is better than you think. They are first spot I find to have vegetarian gravy. Am not surprised if it had beef extract when I go to the store it is not easy to find gravy without beef whatever in it. Mushroom or brown or whatever. They have two kinds and not just cheap mix pepper gravy here. Been forever since I have seen a Denny’s and awhile since even an iHop. But I got them both mixed up they are very similar that is prob’ly why I have not seen the chocolate hush puppies or double chocolate pancake balls before. I can not talk about the price because it was treated but corporate tends to adjust prices across states. Don’t know why the Denny’s closed down they are really nice. It sounds like there used to be a lot. Anyway why the order was inaccurate usually and it is when somebody else is paying. There is some confusion on it since I was redeeming not successful my birthday/or other coupons.. eh. But American cheese sandwich was better here than anywhere else. They do poor elsewhere because American is square slices of the-non real cheese. That says a lot about quality asides accuracy of order everything is good. Outside teleports you to the 50s etc. could be wrong about...
Read moreAn after work meal was needed for me, so I stopped at Denny's. The server was kind and attentive and the old school vibes were really cool. My food arrived in a timely manner (I ordered a triple juicy burger for breakfast) and was not disappointed in the size or the flavor. Each bite was tasty and pleased my taste buds. I will now crown Denny's for something I don't take lightly. The award for the aftermath of eating now goes to Denny's and is no longer Taco Bell. I arrived home and felt a rumble. Nothing out of the ordinary. I get ready for a shower and to use the restroom. A shower was needed more so after my exorcism. The amount of sweat, slipping, sliding, pushing, and trying to maintain my composure was no easy task. I didn't want to wake anyone in the house so biting my shirt was a way to keep quiet. The saying "dropping the kids off at the pool" I could say to some degree. There was a period of what felt like a fire hose release for me that lasted about 20 to 30 seconds. After I was drenched in sweat and satisfied with cleaning my system I watched as it seemed like my business did synchronized swimming as it left me for good. It was a bittersweet moment, but I'll not forgot what the food did for me. I'll be back again and look forward to...
