We went there a few days ago. We were super excited that it has reopened. Just to find out it isn't what we expected. The country fried steak isn't handbattered anymore and comes frozen. Which is one reason why we go there. When it was the Iron skillet, we got excited by going. When we stopped by and seen it getting remodeled. We put it in our calender to know when it opens up. So we go and find out it a new spot. We decided to try it. We like trying new places. First the decor is fancy. We looked past that. Kinda felt undressed there. Like we should be dressing better than sweats and sweatshirt. Our waitress Sarah was amazing. She explained that they were short staffed that day. We understood that. It happens everywhere. Our food came out and for the price. We felt it was too over priced. The burger that I ate was good. Missing the pickled slaw. So I got it on the side. Mac and cheese wasn't worth the price. It was like a kid size instead of adult size. We both decided that we won't be...

We took my in-laws out for "Thanksgiving Dinner" today & the turkey dinner was horrible!! My husband & I eat at The Fork & Compass probably 2 times, maybe more, a month, since we live close by & you "usually" have great food & the staff is wonderful . The "turkey" was very, very salty. You were out of "sweet potatoes", and it was only 1:30 pm. The "green bean casserole" was so "under cooked" & not even mixed together. Even the "garlic toast" was hard! Luckily my husband got Cajun Fish, which he liked. My Father in-law sat quietly & just ate his meal, but my mother in-law & I barely ate the salty food. Our server, said at least 15 people had complained about the turkey. She deducted our 2 meals. We had been there for Thanksgiving 2 years ago & it was great, what happened? Our server "Andrea" was the best! We've had her in the past, & she made our Thanksgiving good, despite our meal. Hopefully next time we come, the food...

I've got mixed feelings about this place. It's not Iron Skillet/Country Pride, and it shows the moment you walk in. It's not a 1 star, but also not a 5 star impression that I left with.

Pros... The place has been nicely remodeled. My server was friendly and attentive. My food was good.

Cons... The prices of the food felt like I was helping pay for what appears to be a very expensive remodel. I ordered cole slaw as a side, but got broccoli instead. (Fortunately I like broccoli so I didn't feel the need to make the walk from my truck back to the restaurant to get what I ordered.) The selection of food choices seemed smaller than Iron Skillet or Country Pride. Maybe it wasn't, but that's how it seemed to me.

While my food was good, I'm not likely to make the effort to go inside to purchase food here again when I come to Petro to shut down...

First time trying this place, it replaced the Iron Skillet, which I loved. It's much brighter and more modern looking. The menu is smaller which allows for better meals. They serve the full menu all day. Once I knew that, I chose the Fork & Compass combo which is 2 eggs, breakfast meat, home fries or hash browns and pancakes or french toast. The food came out in a reasonable timeframe and was hot and good. The portion size was nice, not a ton of food but appropriate for the cost. The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and worked well together to ensure that every customer was cared for. They have a nice take out counter which was getting quite a bit of use from the truckers. I saw several other plates go past me and I will definitely be going back to try their smash burgers. If you're a fan of mac and cheese, theirs looked amazing.

We ate here 3 days in a row doing some port runs and every dinner was great. Don't expect anything different than any other country pride or iron skillet, except the space is remodeled and CLEAN and the food was all cooked well and came out quickly and fresh. That is an improvement on most other TAs we stop at. Pro tip: order the barbacoa burrito with an order of crispy tots, sour cream and salsa and rip that bad boy open and make some loaded tots. That was so good tonight. The pasta dishes were my least favorite but not bad and a lot of food. Mozzarella planks are also a favorite. The servers were nice and they were pretty busy every night we were there doing a great job. Prices are high but that's everywhere these days. I forgot to take any pics til I was done.

This restaurant is very pretty and very comfortable, I really like the change from the Iron Skillet. I got the philly (pictured) and it had a lot of meat, hot, and tasty, and the regular fry portion was just the right size. My daughter got the fried fish special (pictured) and said it was very good. Our waitress kept offering to bring her more since it was ayce, but her first portion was plenty. The Hub got a Cobb salad and that bowl was FULL!! Overall, we are glad we came and we'll def come back for breakfast or lunch sometime! 😁
