Friday decided to drive out to Washington Courthouse to check out Horney’s Barbeque. Arrived at opening and met the owner Steve and Dude his dog. Steve is from Texas and has been in the BBQ business for 26 years. He is using hickory wood for smoking his meats. I ordered the Macaroni and cheese, a sampling of the chili. A little of everything as far as the meats. The Mac and cheese was okay, nothing really special. The chili for ME was way over seasoned. That may be a Texas style, it had a little meat to it, no beans. On to the stars of the show which was the meats. The ribs were nice and tender, fall off the bone. The brisket was cooked perfectly. Good BBQ is very hard to find, I'm glad I will be working in this area for many months. This place is definitely the real deal. My one and only very, very slight disappointment is that I prefer more smoke, but I also understand most people don't care for that much smoke, so I'm overlooking this as they are probably pleasing the mass. Super tender, not overseasoned or salty. I'm looking forward to trying everything...
