What we experienced wasn’t just bad food—it was a hollow parody of Mexican cuisine masquerading as a restaurant. From limp, soggy street tacos dripping with something that tasted disturbingly like mop water, to a guerrito dip that confused breakfast sausage for actual chorizo, it felt like no one in that kitchen had ever respected—or even understood—the cuisine they claim to serve.
The so-called chimichanga? A fried tortilla with bland, unseasoned chicken—zero soul, zero flavor. Rice and beans served crusted over like they’d been sunbathing under a heat lamp for hours. Even the cheese wasn’t queso—it was just “yellow” or “white.” The chips and salsa tasted pre-packaged, generic, and soulless. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this place sees “Mexican cooking” as a few spices and a sombrero emoji.
When my fiancé raised concerns about the fact that several of us didn’t eat, the response was, “Well, I really like our taco salad.” That’s not feedback—that’s deflection. The manager’s indifference was disappointing enough, but what followed was downright hostile: the kitchen staff came out to stare down our table for daring to express an honest opinion about the poor excuse for food they were cooking and serving. It was intimidation, plain and simple, and it made an already bad experience feel even more surreal.
This isn’t about gatekeeping Mexican cuisine—it’s about honoring it. And places like this, that profit off a watered-down, store-bought version of something deeply cultural, should be called out. If you truly appreciate Mexican food, or Mexican families who cook with pride and story in every ingredient—skip this one. It’s a performative shell, and it deserves none...
Read moreI have known of this restaurant for years as I grew up in Swanton. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it being really awesome or just terrible. Finally after years I stopped in with my family for my sister’s birthday and was actually excited to try them out! I will say we got seated fairly quick and the waitress was super accommodating when it came to seating my car seat with us. First red flag though, the eyesore of the advertising shoved in my face on the tables. I’m sure there’s another way to share your supporters, but that’s the least of this review. We order and get our drinks and our margaritas were great! (Here’s comes the bad) The chips and “salsa” was red flag number 2, ew. I honestly thought the salsa were bowls of ketchup and I’m fairly certain I bought the same chips from Aldis.. We finally get around to our food coming out, my brother in laws was wrong, my beans had a hardened layer on top of them like it sat under the heat lamp for much too long, and the waitress placed scalding hot plate in front of my 8 year old. We look past all of that, try out the food and what the heck????? Why is Velveeta the cheese used, let alone used in ALL of our dishes?? This was the most basic Mexican food I have ever had. To top it off all of our food came out on a weird LOUD cart that I have honestly only ever seen used to hold dish tubs for dirty dishes. I was definitely hoping for a better experience but my family and myself are very disappointed. I had really hoped a business around as long as this one would’ve checked all the boxes but it just didn’t. The only plus was our margaritas and my kid food so maybe if we ever come back that’s all...
Read moreMan! What happened to this place? I used to love coming here for some delicious margs and food. I moved away from the area so haven't been to Loma Linda's in a while. While I was home visiting the folks over the weekend, I took my boy friend here for lunch: bragging about the good food, reasonable prices, and delicious margaritas. The margs were still good, but the food was horrendous. Starting with the complimentary chips and salsa; we got bagged tortilla chips and what seemed like jarred salsa. This place used to make their own chips and salsa that was to die for. The chips came out hot, and the hot salsa would knock your socks off! Not anymore. For my meal, I ordered a burrito (enchilada style). What I got was a tortilla with under seasoned, greasy, taco meat in it, and 2 slices of American cheese melted in a microwave. I was charged extra for the refried beans on the side. My boy friend ordered the crab (imitation) enchilada. This was similar with a bunch of imitation crab meat stuffed in a tortilla and 2 slices of American cheese melted in a microwave. I also ordered 2 tacos on the side. Greasy, under-seasoned, taco meat again microwaved. The service was pretty good and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The décor hasn't changed hardly at all in 10 years. In all honesty, we could have gotten way better food from Taco Bell. Loma Linda's has been an area icon for many, many, many, years, and I absolutely hated seeing it like this. I hope someone who knows what the hell they are doing buys Loma's and turns it around quickly, otherwise it won't be around much longer serving food like that. Maybe call...
