Heading home from Toledo decided to stop at the Old Barn Restaurant and Grill in Lima. I have mixed feelings about this establishment, as it has so much potential. I give my experience here a solid 3 stars. Being a Saturday the buffet was $20 for adults. The featured item was prime rib. The prime rib was very good. The buffet spread is smaller than I expected. There was ham, BBQ chicken wings, chicken & noodles, fried chicken, cooked carrots, corn with black beans, mashed potatoes. Basic salad bar with a couple of salad sides such as cottage cheese and potato salad. The dessert selection was very minimal with options. Two kinds of pie, apple and blueberry cream, chocolate cake, cookies, soft serve, and brownies. I would suggest, if you visit to not arrive right at 4:30 pm when they first open like I did. The steam tables did not have a chance to get up to full temp. The desserts pictured are the blueberry cream pie, brownie, and soft serve. I was disappointed in all three. The soft serve was ice milk, barely held its form after being dispensed. No way you could put it in a cone. The flavoring of the vanilla and chocolate were very weak and artificial tasting. Little Debbie makes a far better brownie, and the blueberry cream pie was lacking blueberries and flavor. The blueberry pie tasted like a nondairy whipped cream without the addition of vanilla flavoring. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the building and feel this place would be a hot spot if the food quality was raised. I feel the cost per person is steep for what you are receiving.

We were there between lunch and supper. The buffet was outstanding! All the food was hot and delicious! The price point was absolutely great 👍 $10.00 for seniors. The gravy was spectacular. Chicken was to die for. Salad bar was very good, and everything was well stocked and stirred often. Our waitress was Angela B. She was magnificent! When you go, and you should, ask for her. Look at the pictures of this marvelous establishment. You will love it! Specials on Friday and Saturday nights. We will obviously be back. Thank you!

Visited this place on Wednesday for dinner buffet when I was in Lima, OH. People were so nice and it’s an establishment inside a old barn itself. Liked the ambience. Decent selection of salad options.Their fried chicken is much better than some of famous chains. And pulled pork was the best, not to forget the mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Good options for deserts, I tried their chocolate cream-pie that I enjoyed a lot. Definitely worth paying a visit and will be coming back for sure. Place for a cheat day.

I’m not one to leave bad reviews, however, this place deserves it . Once a week, my family and I go out to eat trying new places. We opted to give this place a try horrible mistake. The food on the buffet was very limited and subpar 2 ate buffet, 3 of us ordered off the menu that Was less than desirable all three of those meals did not get ate, and spent $130 The steak I ordered was brought out, cut into it due to the dim lighting I couldn’t tell if it was cooked correct or not took a bite of it, and it was the most soured rotted taste. I immediately spit it out, the side that came with it was loaded french fries I asked for them loaded they came out burnt & Cold and with only melted cold cheese. The child’s item, mac & cheese, and french fries she wouldn’t even touch. Tried the mac & cheese immediately spit it out. I tried it again the same thing did not taste, correct Ordered a signature drink off of their menu about 10 to 15 minutes into waiting after placing the order. The server comes back in states we don’t have the items to make that drink. I’m sorry didn’t offer anything else just left me with my water.. Dirty silverware rolled and brought to the table, dirty plates and bowls on the salad bar.

After the food was brought out when the server finally came back to the table about 15 min after the food was delivered I explained about the steak and the mac & cheese. She said I’m sorry I’ll get that fixed for you. Never brought new Mac n cheese out. However, when explaining about the french fries and how they were not right, she stated well I’m not sure how they’re prepared. I’ll have to ask so I picked up the menu and I read exactly what was supposed to be on the loaded french fries. She looked at the french fries that were brought to me and said oh those look old anyway, I’ll have to get you some new ones .

All of this and we had asked multiple times to get refills. No one brought any to the table. We had to grab a different server asked him if we could get refills. He said he would get our server. 10 minutes go by he comes back by the table asks if we ever got our refills we stated no he then went and got our drink refills. Our server was barely at our table until it was time for the check and then she hovered to get payment!

Not once did a manager or supervisor make their rounds check on the food check on the table Especially after serving me, a rotten soured steak and cold, burnt french fries . I highly recommend do not go to this place. It is a waste of money. The food is beyond subpar. If I could give it zero stars for horrible service and bad food and lack of management presence it would get a zero...

My MIL took me here after I had outpatient surgery. I hadn't had real food in 3 weeks so I was excited to check it out when she suggested it. We arrived about 2:30 in the afternoon and there were a small handful of other customers. Our waitress was very friendly and quick to provide drink refills and pleasant to chat with. The plates at the buffet tables were not very clean, I had to pick up about five before I finally found a clean one. I put the dirty plates upside down and off to the side. When I alerted staff they came and collected the 5 plates, walked into the kitchen with them and came right back out with 5 plates and put them on the bottom of the stack of plates at the buffet. I found plastic wrap in my pasta salad. The dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls were rock hard, even though they had just been brought out. I think the final straw for me was getting hit in the throat with a small bouncy ball that a child belonging to one of the staff members had thrown down into the restaurant from the loft. The staff was made aware of each of these situations. The pasta salad was replaced on the buffet, or at least that's what they told us. They assured us that the rolls were fresh, despite them being hard. The child who threw the ball was around 4-5yrs old and another child who was around 11-12 yrs old made the smaller child come and apologize to us. The smaller child's mother (who was staff there) never acknowledged the incident even though she was made aware of it. This is supposed to be a fine dining establishment, not a daycare center. There was also a young infant there who was a sibling to the child that had thrown the ball. My first impression of this place was not a good experience and I will not...

Ate here today. It’s a mere shadow of its former self. I loved OBOB growing up so thought it would be a nice place to meet with family for Sunday brunch. There were 12 of us. Some of us drove from 2 hours away to meet up.

Food was not good. Bacon was the best thing available even though no strips were crispy. Chicken and noodles was not temperature hot and was bland with tough chicken chunks. Fried chicken was dry. Made to order omelets were not cooked properly….overcooked (browned) and were not stuffed with the selected veggies and cheese, etc.

One of our favorite items used to be their cinnamon rolls that you’d pull directly from the warmer. They still have the rolls but they are sitting out and are cold.

Kind of seems like most everything was leftovers from the prior week. Salad croutons were soft and stale. The pickled beets were literally brown.

I couldn’t find much worth eating so definitely did not get a full meal and feel the value of food for the $ spent is poor. Also, so many of the plates at the beginning of the buffet line were dirty….and we were there right at 10:30 when they opened for the day. It was odd.

Our server refilled drinks for some of us once and didn’t clear plates at all. An 18% gratuity was added on automatically, plus a 3% credit card fee for using a debit card. We generally tip very, very well but that’s a LOT of $ for bringing initial drinks and some refills (not everyone received refills). We were not a high maintenance table, everyone got the buffet, and we paid via one bill.

We won’t return. This experience makes me super sad given my prior memories of the old...
