We ordered 12 Rudy hot dogs(3plain), 3 fries, 1 mac n cheese, n 3 floats. The lady,(call her lady#1) at windown was very polite, friendly,(gave me extras napkins without me needing to ask) hair pulled up (a must in food industry!!) She was a bit..lets say non-hurried, but thorough. My fries were fresh and hot, crispy-not hard, not soggy, the bags were full-no 1/2 filled bags here. The dogs were fine, buns fresh, chili a bit dry, but not greasy- I always seem to get a lot of chili, so I take some off n give to my dogs that drool under my table. The root beer floats have changed. Idk if they were dispensing a lot of the soft served ice cream the put in the floats(82°F weather day) or if they have a bad machine but the ice cream didn't really cool my root beer nor melt in the pop so I had to stir it up a lot of times and its tasted like warm whipped cream from the cans than actual ice cream. I was cringing though when I saw the lady (call her lady #2) who was helping lady#1 turned and walked away her hair was down, free flowing due to how light it is( so flying everywhere) and it went down to her bum! Needless to say my hotdogs got cold from me searching through the food for hair. That along with the fryer bin they pulled out and left turned on its side(draining? No idea but there was cooking oil underneath it, old foil in it, and sooo much left over crusty, crispy chunks of food) but left right outside the back door and left where in plain view of everyone going through drive through. Things like this, the hair, the rotting wood planks that make up building, the warmer ice cream.....all this says management isn't managing very well. I love supporting small businesses, especially one that started in Toledo and its still going 100 yrs later (I think, either 1920s or 1940s)but that type of lazy managing will ruin the business and now I wonder if its franchised. The food was good, though look out for unwanted hair and careful of ice cream on warmer days. Would I eat there again? Maybe. I'd probably travel the extra distance to the org....

I don't want nothing in return. However, I'm writing this review, as public service announcement, due to the health violations I witnessed today.
This pertains to the Summit St location, just north of Edgewater Rd at roughly 8:00 pm, via the drive-thru.
Two items were missing from my order so I circled back and went inside to inform the employees.
An older gentleman greeted me at the cashier and I explained that I was missing a few items and then showed him my receipt. Since the receipt wasn't itemized, I stated that I would pay for the missing items if I wasn't charged and then verbally repeated the entire order.
The gentleman requsted to look inside my bag instead (to his credit, he wore gloves). He unwrapped everything, behind the counter, in the same area where they were preparing food for others. Also keep in mind my bag contained a few partially eaten hot dogs.
He then proceeded to rewrap everything (including the partially eaten food) and placed it back in my bag!
This same gentleman then walked over to the steam table and noticed he didn't have any cooked "King Hotdogs" (two missing items)... So he walked into the back of the kitchen (presumably into a cooler) and returned with the two hotdogs in his hand and tossed them into a microwave; no plate or napkin was used, he just tossed them inside the microwave.
I then turned around and silently walked out the door..
They can keep the $19.00, they obviously need it more than me. It wouldn't surprise me if this same person re-sold the uneaten food to another customer...
With that said, I wish this establishment nothing but the best. I hope they take this as constructive criticism and make adjustments. However, I could only blame myself if I ever repeated business with this establishment.
Fool me once, shame you. Fool me twice,...
Read moreEating at Rudy's is a childhood memory I'll never forget. Every year we would drive to Toledo to visit family and see the Light Before Christmas at the zoo. We'd always end the evening with a trip to Rudy's. It's been about 15 years since I've eaten there but today it was just as good as I remember. The atmosphere is like taking a trip back in time. Everyone was friendly and very helpful despite it being obvious we didn't know how to move through the ordering process. You grab your tray and utensils at the door then your items are handed to you as you move through the line. The prices were still very reasonable and the food was just as delicious as I remember. I highly recommend staying classic and getting a chili cheese dog with everything and fries. My fiance ordered a cup of chili as well and loved the unique flavor. Their menu has expanded too with greek food, chicken and including all day breakfast. Pie slices on display in a dessert cooler seems to still be a staple. Although the wait is very short, there is a drive through if you don't want to dine in. Highly recommend.
Photo is their serving tray. They don't actually sell them, but we bought it for $20. It means...
