We had a great time eating here!!! They owners were super friendly and the food was so good!!! When we walked in, they told us to sit anywhere we wanted, and I like that! We went with the big sampler platter. It came with chopped brisket, sausage, ribs, pulled pork, and 5 different sides. For the sides, we went with the green beans, mac and cheese, backed beans, potatoes, brown gravy, and coleslaw, and they also brought out the jalapeño pasta salad. Let's start off with the brisket. I'm a huge brisket lover!! So I have a few suggestions. The brisket was a little dry even tho we had the point it was still a little dry. It also needs more salt. Unfortunately, I had to add BBQ sauce to enjoy it. That was super hard for me to do! It seems like a sin to put sauce on brisket, but I guess sometimes you need to. Next, the pulled pork was also a little dry, but it had a good smokey flavor . On to the sausage. It was OK and paring it with their gold sauce it was good. Definitely not made in-house. On to the pork ribs. These were not fall off the bone tender. They had a good flavor but not done enough for my taste. On to the chicken quarter, the flavor was good. And it fell apart like it was cooked just right. I think it was yesterday's chicken but it was good!! They also brought us out a sample of turkey, and it was awesome! The turkey was moist and super flavorful!! On a side note, all the meat came out just a little under the temp. It was also a cold day, but I think it all could have been a little hotter. On to the sides Let's start with the baked beans. These were nothing special. I think they were out of the can with a little extra meat. Next, let's go to the coleslaw. This was super fresh with a little apple juice, I think, to give it a sweet kick. It was good! Next, the mac n cheese. This was nice and creamy but was lacking a little flavor. Maybe add a touch of salt... but it was also good! Next, the mashed potatoes with brown gravy. She said that the potatoes were mashed fresh, but they tasted like instant potatoes, and the gravy was definitely from a packet. The flavors of both were good. On to the pasta salad. He said they got the recipe from tick tok and made it better.... it tasted like it wanted to be a jalapeño popper pasta salad... the flavor was ok....on to the star of all the sides we tasted! The GREEN BEANS!!! WOW, OH WOW!!! These were great!! Home run on these alone!!! They had just the right amount of fat and savery and salt and acid!! Perfect all the way!! The bacon in this dish was perfect!! To finish off the meal, we had the banana pudding. I loved how simple this was! It was also good! Keep up the hard work!! If you are in the Oklahoma City area, you don't want to miss this place!! It's right next to a live cattle auction that takes place every Monday and Tuesday, so it's super fun!!! It's definitely worth the stop!!...
Read moreWe decided today to try this place since our lunch hour was shorter than usual wanted a quick take out since we only had 30 minutes. Strike 1 told me the order would be ready in 10 minutes, took 25 minutes. That left us no time to eat so we had to eat at our desks because we had to be back working. Strike 2 Requested both types of BBQ Sauce, got back to office and only had one container of mild, coworker wanted hot. Strike 3 the coleslaw was dry and devoid of any flavor. Strike 4 the mac and cheese tasted like it had smoke seasoning instead of actually being smoked, Strike 5 the menu description of the heaping pile of meat on the sandwich was heaping alright, but the majority of it was all fat. I like a little fat but this was way beyond, once I picked the majority of it off the sandwich I had a child portion of actual beef (Shrinkflation is real people). Only positive comment was from coworker who said the amount of meat in the Turkey club made the sandwich worth the cost. So, I guess in a Cattle area, only Turkey saves the day....... We will go back to our favorite BBQ in the Metro, Earls Rib Palace the next time we want BBQ. They offer rewards points every time you dine and once they add my birthday points we will have enough points to cover our Thanksgiving dinner for our...
Read moreOff the beaten path, in the stockyards. This place was recommended to me by another restaurant owner as a Must Try Place. I’m glad I did. I went on a Friday around 2:30. It wasn’t busy at all. The dinning area and work stations were clean and the staff was friendly. The menu options are pretty much what you would expect at a BarBQ place. I ordered the Smokehouse Burger, Fries and jalapeño poppers. Food came out fast. The poppers came out 1st, they was OK (I ain’t mad at them), they was a little darker fried then I like, but still good. The Smokehouse Burger and fries came out next. The burger is stacked high with a thick patty, sausage, onion ring and BBQ sauce. It was good but would have been more to my liking if the ground beef had more fat in it. The fries were good (light golden brown). I ordered a 2-go plate for my wife. 2 Meat plate, Sliced brisket and ribs with potato salad and beans. It came out quick and bagged up ready to go (lots of food). I heard her say “that’s the best brisket and ribs I’ve had in Oklahoma”, so I had to get a bite, she wasn’t wrong. I will be going back...
