1st and last time here. Thought it was going to be a nice experience. The music was great. It all went down hill from there. Waiter brought us water with very little ice and no straw. No salt or pepper on our table. Waited patiently while he took another order. I have food allergies so, once he came to our table I asked if the chicken fried steak gravy was a simple cream gravy or was it made with pork as I am allergic. He assured me it was simple cream. So I ordered that with a baked potato with extra sour cream. Waiter asked if I wanted it loaded. I asked what that meant, and he said cheese, chives and bacon also. I said absolutely not, as I stated I am allergic to pork, so I asked for just chives in addition to the sour cream and butter. Husband ordered his sandwich, and a coke with no ice for his drink. The food arrives, no coke for the husband, and no gravy on the chicken fried steak, sour cream and chives on the potato and a container full of butter. I asked about the gravy so the waiter left and returned with a carafe of it. It looks funny to me but I poured it on the steak ,which was too uniform in shape, not like a standard chicken fry that I have gotten at other places. I took 2 bites of the steak and it tasted funny. So I ate about 1/3 if the potato, no extra sour cream, so was too dry for my taste. My stomach was starting to gurgle. At first I thought we had waited too late to go to lunch and that I was overly hungry. So, I again tried to take a bite of the steak, but the gravy still looked funny, so I took a taste of just the gravy and my stomach knotted. I could taste bacon. I was getting nauseous and at that point I knew for certain I had consumed pork grease. When the waiter sauntered by to see if everything was ok, I said no, I needed him to double check if the gravy was made with pork, specifically, bacon grease, because I could taste it and was getting ill. He went to check, came back and confirmed it was in fact made with bacon grease. He asked what he could do to rectify it right away and I told him nothing we just needed to get out of there as I knew I was going to begin vomiting. He brought our ticket, stated that he was sorry and had taken my meal off the ticket, the manager came over and asked if I needed an epi pen. They did mostly right, AFTER the fact, but my complaint is that staff should be aware of all the ingredients in the products on the menu or be taught to always double check. My brother died from a food allergy. Luckily my allergy is not so serious, at least I have yet, to have difficulty breathing. But I think that is because I usually projectile vomit nearly immediately when accidentally consuming it. We made it the 1/4 mile back to work and I was able to allow myself to get it out of my system, but my Husband had only eaten half of his lunch. So we paid for a meal and a less than pleasant experience. Sadly disappointed, as a coworker had referred us to try the place out. Recommendation: if you try the place, be sure to ask management, in the event you have a food allergy, as the staff is not knowledgeable. Lesson learned....Should have just gone to our usual place instead of trying...
Read moreTerrible food and slow service. We had a reservation for 6. The restaurant and bar area was not full by any means, so there is no excuse for ALL our issues. We did not have appetizers or desserts yet it took us 1 hour and 50 minutes to eat. Once we got our food, we ate quickly because the drinks were so slow, the food was horrible, and we just wanted out of there.
Our table was a booth on one side for 3 and 3 chairs on the other. The one end of the table was against a wall so the person sitting all the way in the booth was trapped by two other people. The restaurant was not full, so beyond that, they should not have a table set up this way; they definitely should have used a different table.
We struggled all night to get a beer or mixed drinks on time. At one point, we waited 15 minutes to get a BEER. There were two bartenders, a maybe half-full restaurant, and four people sitting at the bar. NO excuse for the slow service.
The food was mostly horrible. They were out of a couple of main dishes but did not alert us to that till we ordered, so two felt pressured to try quickly. We were not told the specials either. I eat chicken fried steak at most restaurants I go to, so have tried A LOT. It was one of the worst I have ever had. It seemed huge but was actually super thin with a bread crumb or panko-type texture breading. Not the traditional chicken fried steak you would expect from a steak house. I would have been fine with the texture if had tasted good. Both ribeyes that were ordered were overcooked. The creamed spinach tasted like blanco Velveeta with frozen spinach. The au gratin potatoes had WAY too much onion. The fried chick pieces were tiny and the breading was not good. The only meal in which the meat was good and cooked correctly was the filet. The house salads looked good, but the Caesar salad had 95% old or yellow romaine lettuce.
The woman's bathroom had trash overflowing from the can and the mirror looked like someone had wiped the top of it with a wet hand and let it dry.
As we looked around, we realized that the reason a Saturday night was so empty was that most guests looked to be having the same horrible experience as we did.
One of those issues, much less all, does not warrant the price...
Read moreA party of 4, we had reserved a table for 7:00. We entered right at 7:00 and were seated at a table beefy suited for 2 people. It was about 3 feet in diameter and round. The waiter serving in that area was checking in with us within 5 minutes and offering upgraded drinks (there were glasses of water and silverware on the table). We asked for a larger table and were moved to two small rectangular tables sharing a bench seat and two chairs. Then we look next to us and across from us where two couples were seated and dining. They had the same tables and seats (that’s one couple-two people per). It was an improvement from our initial accommodation, so it was acceptable. Since we waited for the new table, the order process started over. We waited, and waited, and waited. 20 minutes later, the new waiter arrives for drink orders. So about 7:30, he’s taking drunk orders and mentions he will be back to take our order for an appetizer. We were ready to place that order but he didn’t think to ask. Differently staff bring our drink orders, only two of us ordered tea and Sprite, the other two took water. So not complicated in the slightest. Still took 10 minutes. I might add the place wasn’t packed with people. Then we order and get our appetizer, the steak nachos. The sour cream and cheese shortage was quite evident. $14 was a little much for this dish. You might say, wellll, we were paying for the location, still, not impressed. The tiny crumbled steak pieces were on par with the other ingredients. What this dish had an absolute abundance of was dry chips. And since it appeared we were going to be waiting on the main dishes we ordered for a bit, I had plenty of time to retrieve the dry chips from the plate. And there were several…kind like playing jenga, LOL. Again, the server was MIA when the food was brought to us. So my plate wasn’t done to order. Within 5 minutes, that was corrected. The meal itself was pretty good for the most part. The steak was okay and the mash potatoes were good. The waiter stepped up his game a little nd was very timely on replacing our drinks. The whole visit stretched out to two plus hours. Just not really a good first and probably last impression for me. But hey, they got a...
