Arrived on a Monday around 11:20 am. Walked in unable to find a clean, wiped booth despite only 4-5 sat tables in the restaurant. Upon being greeted, we were informed by our server that they ātold him to wipe this off,ā without any other greeting, question or comment. After returning to wipe off the table, we were asked our drink order and our waters promptly arrived, yet we were not yet ready to order our meal. Another 10-12 minutes later, the server returns after standing next to the coffee maker and behind the bar talking and joking with co-workers. Our order is placed to include two mimosas, which are keyed into the tablet along with our food items. Upon walking away, the server informs us they forgot the restaurant ran out of champagne and said āI will go ask and see what we can do.ā Meanwhile, another table has arrived, received their beverages. We witness our server meander around the restaurant, cash out a neighboring table, take another tableās order then proceed back to talking and joking with co-workers. In this time, the newly arrived table has received their order and our table has no word on our mimosas. Our server nears our table again without checking in or providing an update. Moments later, another team member delivers our food. Finally, our server returns and when asked about the mimosas says,āOh yeah, I know weāre out of champagne [insert excuse about being busy over the weekend], sorry let me go ask about that.ā The server then proceeds to yell across the room to ask if they are out of champagne then turns to us and says they are out. They attempt to offer another alcoholic beverage, which we accept. Another 10 minutes later, we still have no beverages and see our server wandering around until they realize we are looking for them. Then, another staff member asks āwhat tableā and approaches us. By now, our food is nearly finished and weāve been at the establishment for almost an hour. As the newly encountered manager-looking employee arrives, we are informed they are unable to make the replacement beverage because they are out of another item and are offered an apology. They ask if we would like a different option but arenāt sure if they have everything to make that, so they offer other potential substitutes. We refuse as we are nearly done eating. The server drops off our check minutes later and doesnāt return for another 10 minutes. Upon returning with our paid tab, we are informed that a āmanagement meetingā will be held to address the alcohol budget and are told again how busy they were over the weekend and how they have no budget and no one told anyone they were out and....then I stopped listening. Iāve been to the 6th street location multiple times and have never had an experience as poor as this. The lack of attention from a service aspect and the disappointing inventory measures left for an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe ordered the classic french toast, chilaquiles, the green chile breakfast burger & chicken tenders with fries (from the kids menu). First up, this was the best french toast we've had at a restaurant & even our non-sweet eaters found it really good. Next, this wasn't the usual "kid's meal". The chicken tenders were perfectly coated and cooked, the fries were also great & the portion size was not too small or too large for either of my pre-teen kids. Then we opted for the green sauce chilaquiles; the sauce is a good balance of savory and citrus with a healthy dose of heat that isn't overpowering. Combined with the chorizo and toppings it was an all around great flavor combination. Last food order was the green chile breakfast burger, my favorite dish of the four. Each ingredient was great on its own as well as however you might mix them. Finally, I'm sure I've never asked for my coffee to be refilled so many times and I got a cup to go. Lindsay & Tammy were our servers. I am especially impressed with their patience. Not everyone is as gracious or kind when my autistic son has particularly loud bursts of communication. They gladly gave us as much time as we needed to order, didn't bat an eye when we asked for a drink refill without ice but most of all they didn't react negatively, judgementally or rudely while we went through the process of helping him get regulated and more calm. None of the staff did and that's a big deal because most of the time other customers will follow the lead of staff members and a few minutes of grace generally makes all the difference for us and them. Between the great food and fantastic customer service experience (& I didn't even mention the value, also an absolute win) we'll definitely keep Sunnyside Diner on our radar for...
Read moreDo we really need another Sunnyside Diner review? The answer is Always!! Inside this quaint Diner you'll find a full breakfast menu including chilaquiles, chicken fried steak, & breakfast burritos aside the usual suspects. Everything here is made from scratch, to order, & you can tell that time as well as effort was spent finding quality ingredients. Today I opted for The Cowboy breakfast burrito with a side of fresh fruit! The burritos size is plentiful and filling. The eggs & chorizo were not over cooked. Furthermore, the potatoes were also cooked perfectly. This burrito is served with green peppers, onions, & avocado. My personal preference would to have bit more of the green peppers inside the burrito & sautéed a bit longer. But they were cooked long enough to not have a bite nor were they crunchy. The onion is not noticeable nor overpowering which was a plus, for flavor. Additionally, there could have been more fruit but it was a side serving. Albeit the fruit was very fresh & not just your typical canned fruit variety. Which contained a mix of blueberries, strawberries, banana slices, & diced green apples. Overall I am full as well as nourished for my work day ahead which is our main goal. The Sunnyside Diner is a noteworthy addition to the Happy Plate food concept of restaurants. If you enjoy breakfast food then this Diner is a must!! I will be back for the French Toast, Pancake platter, & the Farmer's Market Omlette for sure! I believe this OKC staple is on par or slightly better than Beverly's. However, I really do not enjoy comparing the two as they do have different menus. The service was welcoming & exceptional and our coffee was always full. There was not a long wait for the food to arrive & the staff is very knowledgeable...
