I don't even know how to describe this place. This was literally the worst restaurant experience of my life.
I was on a cross country road trip with my husband and we stopped here because we were checking out the fireworks store in the parking lot and wanted to stretch our legs. My husband needed to use the restroom and I suggested we get something simple to-go from this place like rice and beans or a few tacos so we could use the bathroom while we waited.
When we walked in, we were not greeted with a smile or a usual question like "how many guests will be dining with us?" or "would you like takeout or dine-in?" or even a simple "hi, how are you?" Instead, they gruffly just pointed at table and told us to sit. We were caught off guard but weary from the road so we sat and kind of thought oh well. Before we could even express we just wanted to order to go they literally TOSSED a basket of chips in front of us with salsa and some weirdly colored "queso."
I tried one chip in each dip and it was hands down the worst I've ever had. The chips were thick and unsalted and over cooked. They tasted like burnt cardboard and the salsa was bubbling like it was fermenting. The queso tastes like absolutely nothing. I really thought it was like flour and water with no seasoning for a moment. Stunned, I told my husband to go ahead and use the restroom and I would just place an order for rice and beans to go. At the very least we could season them more ourselves if needed and make them into burritos with the other food in our cooler in the car.
As soon as he got up to use the toilet, the server ran over to me and rudely asked if I was ready to order. I explained that I wanted rice and beans to go and and he got irritated and said I woild have to pay. I said yes, of course. He said no no, you have to pay for the "set up." I said excuse me? He said I can't have the chips and dips for free if I get a to go order. I said I don't want the chips. He got angry and said I had to pay for them. I said no, and never mind on the rice and beans as well. He said he was putting my order in, and I said no. I waited for my husband and even went outside to let my dog potty and he kept asking me where I was going and telling me my order was ready. I told him absolutely not and eventually poked my head into the men's room and told my husband "I'm walking out of here, these people are rude."
The guy was a total jerk and I felt like they were trying to rip us off from the very beginning. I have never felt "hustled" like that by a restaurant before. The way they wordlessly pushed us into a booth and threw chips at us... and then immediately demanded we pay for them. Yuck. We walked out very annoyed but at least my husband got to add a healthy present to their septic system.
Never been treated so rudely by a restaurant EVER. We have no problem paying and tipping well when we are treated kindly. I have no words to describe the bad taste left in our mouth after eating 2 chips I didn't even want and then being shaken down to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen here a few times. First couple times were ok. Nothing above average, but left satisfied. 3rd time was a bust. Our server didn't know anything about the food at the restaurant. They had messed up on my flautas and I asked if these were correct and she literally did not know what flautas were. So I asked her if maybe they had mistakenly cooked something else and she told me she didn't really know what was what on the menu. That was frustrating. She told me. I'll go ask the kitchen. They might know. So they remade me the same exact thing the same exact way even though I ordered something different. After she dropped it off, she never came back to our table and would look away from us every single time she had to walk past. We were not rude to her, but she was still obviously avoiding us. At this point I wasn't really sure to be kinda irritated or feel sorry for the server. She obviously didn't know anything about the menu or customer service. Furthermore, when the manager asked us at the register how our food was, I politely explained how our dinner went, and she laughed and proceeded to tell me, ok that'll be $62.58. She didn't care how our dinner was , so why even ask ? Well I won't go back now after that one. There's too many other good choices with proper...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis has to be the most price-conscious Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at, and by "price-conscious", that's in favor of the restaurant, NOT in favor of you, the customer. The first red flag was the sign on the door stating that if you use credit card, they will charge 3.5% back to you, because they refuse to uphold their due diligence of being a good business and paying their merchant fees. Shame on them for that! I ordered the fajitas, and they arrived with absolutely NO piping hot sizzle or grizzle sounds to them (were they microwaved??) when the waiter brings them to me, he specifically asks me "if I would like tortillas". ....umm, yes please, they ARE in fact, fajitas. Thirdly, the meat was diced into small portions, like how a mother cuts up her meat for her toddler. Very small portions, no typical huge lengthy strips....mixed with the thinly sliced peppers & onions, the concoction looked like it came out of a crockpot. The waiter never once refilled our chips, salsa or queso, or our drinks. Absolutely the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I won't be back and if you're reading this, fair warning that you also shouldn't go. Don't make the mistake I...
