My husband and I live for fantastic food but love to eat in the comfort of our home during these times and local restaurants like Hong Kong Star fulfill our desperate need for a wonderfully cooked meal packed carefully in good to go boxes. I'm not a fan of food deliveries so order via their website and pick the order up. Great website to order food, easy scroll and checkout. Now let's come to food- Delicious is the word! The food's not too salty, has balanced flavors and does not taste sweet at all which I extremely love! Robust umami flavors shouting from every dish is what I absolutely love in their food and I'm thrilled to have a new favorite chinese spot just minutes away. We order our usual pan fried chicken noodles and they're always packed separately from the soup that comes with it and is perfectly filled in a large container. This is very impressive since the noodles are supposed to stay crisp and we do not miss dining in the restaurant specifically for that experience at all. We generally get two of those and do have leftovers. Love the portions. Not complaining. Chicken lo mein is spot on! I usually mention 'hot and spicy' in the special instructions tab while ordering online so they give a super spicy chilli sauce with the order which is most appreciated because we love spicy! Their schezuan chicken is a perfect blend of veggies and chicken and comes with rice. Go for their fried rice instead of white rice. They are DELICIOUS! Try their veggie rolls and you will love them! We've ordered from here a bunch of times and they're very consistent. Love supporting local restaurants and will go back for more!

This Chinese new year we had a little get-together at Hong Kong Star Chinese Restaurant for our New Year dinner. The restaurant specializes in Cantonese-style Chinese cuisine, my favorite type of Chinese food. The dinner was an amazing experience, thanks to the fantastic company. The restaurant is especially renowned for its clay pot dishes, which we ordered - a beef brisket and tendon clay pot and a tofu pot. Both were simply delicious! We also had the tender, juicy roast duck, accompanied with the restaurant's special house dip. The Cantonese style crispy fried chicken was pre-ordered, requiring 30 minutes preparation, but it was certainly worth the wait: the meat was succulent, flavorful and perfectly caramelized with a crispy skin. Moreover, the black pepper beef really stood out - coated with a well balanced black pepper sauce and stir fried to perfection, the meat was unbelievably tender and flavorful. A steamed whole flounder is a must-have for a New Year's Day dinner as it symbolizes well-being and prosperity. It's delicately prepared with classic Cantonese-style soy sauce and ginger. We also enjoyed a rich and delicious spread of braised duck with mixed vegetables, crab and fish maw soup, steamed and pan-fried dumplings, walnut shrimp, Peking ribs, ginger and scallion-steamed chicken, stir-fried bok choy, fried rice, and stir-fried rice noodles. We had an amazing evening together and look forward to a great year ahead!

Holy. Mother. Of. God. We moved to Missouri a few years ago from San Diego and I was truly bummed at the lack of decent Chinese restaurants. We live at the Lake of the Ozarks and came up here for work. When we saw all the great reviews, I seriously thought it was just too good to be true ...not so, the food was legit AF. ~Salt and Pepper Shrimp, (more like prawns!!) deep fried and lucious. A+ ~Sliced beef w/Chinese veggies on a bed of crispy noodles. Tender and perfectly cooked. A+++ ~Peking pork, deep fried w/a semi sweet sauce and onions. It was delicious but fried too hard for my husband to eat. More for me!😉 ~Salty fish and chicken fried rice. AMAZING. If you like rice and different things added to it, THIS might be something for you to try. The ratio of salty fish (tiny pieces) to rice and chicken was perfect! Our server was very nice, friendly and efficient, unlike the woman at the register who was just sour and unfriendly. The staff wore masks and the place was spotless and overall, our meal was awesome!! I hope we can come back one day.😊

I was on my way for a date and was feeling unwell, so when we arrived I went in ahead to use the restroom. I informed them there would be two of us and that I required their restroom. While I was in the facilities my boyfriend came in and was immediately screamed at to use the other door. In addition when I was in the facilities the door was pounded at and I was yelled at to hurry up. When I came out and inquired about what other door to use I was informed that I was not to use their restrooms, that it was for customers. I informed her that i, in fact, was going to eat here. She then screamed asking "WHEN?!?", I then was forced to again repeat myself that I was going to eat there now and had used their facilities because I was sick. Apperently at this place you must inform the person WHY you must use the restroom and they control when. I informed her it was not her business and told her if she treats her customers with such hate and hostility I would take my business elsewhere where. I use to frequent here often but will never return and recommend that no one else ever enter this place. I have never been treated or spoken to so horribly in...
