Trattoria Ravello — Restaurant in Old Bridge Township

Location can be seen from main road. Quaint restaurant/pizzeria. My husband and I sat on restaurant side. It looked very clean, My husband being from Italy always likes to try new places to see how they make their sauce and since I have yet to eat really good meatballs. I still feel if anyone tried oneof my homemade meatballs you would think mine are the best lol. So we seen the Italian sign outside and figured let's check it out. My dish when I go out is chicken parm, so we ordered a lunch chicken parm size and a whole chicken parm sandwich, and side of meatballs to try. The sauce is authentic my husbands is a bit bette but, this one came very close. Our chicken parm dishes were excellent the chicken was fried just right. My portion size was perfect. The meatballs were okay better than most pizzeria/restaurants that I have visited. The wait staff was a pleasant we had a young lady. Oh and the deal breaker for me is I always go to the bathroom to see how clean it is, and must say I was impressed to how immaculate they keep the woman's room. My husband said the men's room was clean as well. So this place would get 5 stars from me but, I only had to give 4 because I was really hoping to taste a better meatball than mine. I used to think of this place as my "Go to" place. I would have celebratory dinners with family; pre-race day pasta dinners; and when we just felt like Italian food...period. In May, I spoke with the owner about having a dinner party of 20 on a Saturday night in June. He turned me away, telling me that was his busy time and he couldn't afford to give me that time. I had to go somewhere else. A few weeks later, we went for dinner at around 6:30 on a Saturday night and found a party of 18 in the middle of the room...the rest of the place was empty. Tonight I went to get some pasta. Party of ONE. Server went back and forth...serving tables, taking orders, from three tables. Never sat me. I stood waiting for a table for 10 minutes. Our first time and unfortunately our last. Food was edible, however, my husband order linguini with clam sauce. When it came out, it needed a bit more sauce. Informed the waitress and was then told that there was nothing they could do. As that should have been asked when placing the order. Who would know prior that it would come out dry. Didn't offer us anything...if my husband wanted a another item...nothing. My husband landed up adding cold water to make it have additional juice along with the juice of piece of lemon which I had in my water. I had a salad with grilled shrimp. Shrimp had no flavor and they really could not mess up a salad. Again, it was edible. Very disappointed in the service...not sure if the waitress was an employee or one of the owners, either way...not very professional or...
