Ocean Park Soda Fountain — Restaurant in Old Orchard Beach

I got into the shop and was greeted by an overwhelming smell of marijuana and displeased facial expressions from the workers. Only one customer was in line ahead of us. When the 3 girls called us to the counter, one blonde girl took my order and the other two girls (one red head and one dirty blonde) began sarcastically saying “it’s just really hard to understand directions for some people, they just don’t understand when we give them directions” with a judgmental tone and a snickering grimace. Then proceeded to tell us with irritation to move down to the counter. Whether or not they were high and angry at their customers for interrupting their conversations, it certainly seemed like it was the case. This customer service was the worst I’ve ever had, which is why I decided to a write a review. I don’t write reviews.

Downhill alert! I have adored this place for many years. Our first visit in 2023, however, was deeply disappointing. They were not carrying signature flavors like Fool’s Gold and the all important Mint Explosion; the prices for ice cream border on insane. $5.99 for a small cone? And the smalls were super small! And the worst part? The ice cream wasn’t at all up to prior standards. The Dirty Water had no swirls of fudge or cookie pieces…is this still even Blake’s Ice Cream? I tried the breakfast sandwich for the first time. There was a hair in it! Gross. They made me another one and it was really good. However, not one person apologized to me. The employees were too busy discussing their paychecks. I asked for a cup of ice 3 times and finally I got it.
