First off, I'd like to mention that I've been going to Abelardo's for years. Abelardo's is a restaurant that's been in Omaha for some time and has grown immensely. In my opinion, this is due to the great value, taste, and service that they provide.
This is quickly become my family's favorite go-to restaurant on fast food night. Once a week, we order food in and out of the six people in my family, four of them recommend Abelardo's first. Needless to say, we end up eating there quite a bit.
This time, I got the chorizo breakfast burrito. This is pretty much what I always get. The burrito is massive, very reasonably priced, and comes with chorizo, egg, potatoes, and cheese. It is greasy, massive, and delicious. I will admit, it is somewhat unappetizing to see the amount of grease in it. But I don't order a chorizo burrito at a Mexican restaurant expecting health food. Cost of $7.99, which does not include any sides, But is an insanely good value.
My wife and eldest son ordered the combination plate number 18 which comes with two carne asada burritos, rice, and beans. The portion is massive as well. My teenage son finished his whole meal, but my wife routinely saves one of the burritos for leftovers the next day. The meat is well seasoned and overall, it's pretty tasty. Cost for the meal is $12.99.
My two younger sons both got the sausage breakfast burrito, and added bacon to it. Again, this is similar sized to the chorizo burrito (HUGE) and it's stuffed full of ingredients. These also cost $7.99, which is pretty affordable given the size.
My daughter ordered the fried taco, with a side of refried beans. The taco was crispy and delicious, but not too oily and sits on a bed of lettuce. She, along with my two boys who tried it, all said that the refried beans were delicious. Refried beans are their favorite item at Mexican restaurants, so I will trust their opinion on this one. The reried beans were $2.99 for a portion that looked to be about about a pint.
Total bill was just over $60 for six people, which includes two adults and one teenager. So even though it seems pricey, it's rather affordable for a meal for our family, and the burritos provided leftovers for four of the people. Another thing to point out, is that the menu at Abelardo's is giant. There is a ton of different offerings and types of products to order, and surely there is something for everybody. Abelardo's is routinely meeting or exceeding our expectations for taste. When I go in or go to the drive-thru, the service is fast and the employees are friendly. When you're there, it's also worth trying the Mexican drinks, especially the horchata. If you like Mexican food, you must try Abelardo's and likely won't be...
Read moreThe food was great as always, but I have been trying to understand how the almost 40 dollars I paid for my husband's dinner, our 5 year old son's kids meal, and 2 bottles of Mexican Coke, and that's it, is what I spend to feed the 3 OF US at your locations in York and Grand Island. I had only brought a limited amount of cash with me assuming that your prices would be the same as your York and Grand Island locations, I didn't have my debit card on me, so I could only afford to get the food for my husband and our son. And when I told the lady who was taking my order to take my food off of the order since I only had the money for my husband and son's dinners, she was less than polite and was very loud about it, embarrassing me in front of a restaurant full of people. I went to bed hungry and embarrassed, but my husband and son loved the food. And even though I could have gone home and gotten my debit card, I chose not to after how rude I was treated and for the absolute inconsistency of your prices between your Central Nebraska and your...
Read moreLove the upgraded dining tables and chairs. My husband and I used to go here frequently, but haven't been in sometime. Tonight, we decided to roll the dice on taking the kids even though we weren't really sure if they'd appreciate the more authentic lean into Mexican food. The 5 of us got a wide variety from the menu and everyone was happy with their choices. My 11 year old tried the beef soup that is only available on weekends; it is definitely worth coming in on the weekend! It was kind of a learning curve to figure out how to eat, but she reported that it was delicious. The omelet choice on the kids meal was a pleasant surprise for my vegetarian kiddo and my sea food lover grabbed the Texas rice bowl. The three kids are nearly every bite which is so nice when dining out is so expensive. I had the half order of chicken nachos; absolutely cravable! We ...
