Abelardo's Mexican Fresh — Restaurant in Omaha

A year ago I would have given 5 stars but this place has gone downhill in the last year. It is so random, I have given them so many chances but this place has become the food lottery, one time you might get the perfect burrito and the next it’s it’s not even cooked!

Tonight was the last straw, I bought a California burrito and drove home which was 5 minutes away. I open the wrapper and the burrito is completely cold, I heat it up in the microwave and start eating only to find that the French fries are raw, there is no flavor and a small amount of diced steak that has no seasoning. I’m really dissapointed and I generally don’t write reviews but this place was great but now it’s a joke, 20 minutes wait at a window for terrible food. That’s also not mentioning the multiple breakfast burritos that had egg shells in, I let that slide twice in the past, now I’m done!

I live 5 minutes away and yet I will drive to the one on 108th street before I ever return here again, what a shame! I can’t believe that people line up at the window for...

I was here multiple times on different occasions. The food here is decent. The only problem I have is it's neither traditional Mexican, nor American Mexican. Food is not authentic Mexican like one would imagine. Portions are decent but could get expensive.

The good:

1. Accessible.
2. Drive through and Drive through only.
3. Food is ok.
4. Portions are good
5. Fried Tacos

The bad:

1. Busy
2. Weird drive through and if it gets busy your car will be in the line on road.
3. one person serve takes call and serves (through window) on both the sides.
4. You can't customize and the people barely understand English.
5. Salsa is very runny
6. Not many options for Vegan or Vegetarians
7. As they are always busy no special treatment.
8. No itemized receipts.(atleast the couple times I was here)
9. Soft Tacos become mushy as the Tortilla is very soft. I had to eat with a fork the few...

I’m pregnant and I’ve been craving a fat authentic burrito, Abelardo’s delivered! As a Mexican girl who grew up in California and loves taquerias, it’s been a bit difficult finding authentic tacos/burritos in Nebraska. I tried their lengua burrito (I haven’t had good lengua in years) and my husband ordered a carnitas burrito, both items were amazing. The carnitas was smokey and tender, the lengua was soft and flavorful. Their salsas are also delicious, if you haven’t tried their avocado salsa you definitely should next time you visit. The food was so damn good we came back for lunch the next day. I recently had a terrible experience at Javi’s tacos, but I’m glad it led to us trying Abelardo’s.
