Carl’s Tavern — Restaurant in Ord

Stopped in because the google reviews said it was good food for cheap. Regretfully the food was neither good nor cheap for the quality. Paid 18$ not including tip for the mushroom burger which was extremely dry & fries. No flavor whatsoever added to the burger not even sauce (which on a mushroom burger i wouldn't expect condiments sauce but when the burger you just paid 18$ is absolutely tasteless then you'd at least expect an attempt)

My toss up was between stopping at Casey's gas station for food or this place and I should've just gone to Casey's. Cheaper and more flavor in their sandwiches.

The staff was friendly and professional although it took them about 10 minutes to realize my drink was empty where 4 staff members were present and only a handful of diners. The bar server who took my order was more fixated on a conversation with another diner (yes im aware that i can request a refill. I've been a server too, it's good practice even when talking to check on your diners) I still left a generous tip given the experience but I wouldn't recommend this place for the food if what i had is what is normal...

The team at Carl’s is very friendly and welcoming, being a family-owned business, they treat their customers like family. Whether you are coming on Friday night to watch the Ord game, Saturday for the Prime Rib Special, or for Sunday brunch Carl’s will make sure your experience and food are superior. There is no other place like this in Ord, from all the variety of TVs to watch sporting events, to the eloquent brick design and Hackberry bar center piece! I hear they are building an AirBnB above the bar that you’ll be able to rent out; between that and the outdoor bar patio in the summertime Carl’s will be the place to be! We stopped for the Sunday Buffet. Several things to choose from on the buffet, so I could choose between breakfast or lunch. I chose both! Breakfast was good. The eggs were not overdone (which is easy to do in a serving tray). The lunch meats were a little dry.. also could be from the serving trays. The STAFF was fantastic. Very attentive and helpful. Didn't wait for drinks or service at all. They have pay-by-QRcode .. which many restaurants don't have yet. I think it makes a seamless...
