Having stopped by the Salishack Tavern several times when we visit the coast, we were extremely disappointed with the service on our last visit, in particular, from the bartender Michelle. She deceptively and purposely overcharged us 30% on our second visit for the day as she claimed she was not tipped enough the first time we stopped in. It appears, when you go to the bar for service, you are to tip your bartender even though she does not come to you. When confronted, she stated one individual in our party said to put their beers on our tab. When I asked the member of our party about the beers they stated that never occurred. As a matter of fact, they were overcharged as well. We consistently and generously tip our servers when dining out acknowledging quality food and service. This time we had 15 members in our party. In addition, we did not appreciate other patrons smoking marijuana within the establishment. If you are a local you received prompt, gracious service, however, apparently out-of-towners money does not command the same quality service. What a shame! My advice to tourists. Check your tab at the end of the night and make sure your tip is actually what you intended to give, not what your bartender felt she deserved. Unfortunately, we will not return to...
Read moreYou have just found the best dive bar on the planet! This has been my go-to bar for many years. The new owner Doug S. recently completed some renovations and improvements without gentrifying this coastal gem. Where to start- the food is fairly priced and is of high quality. Basic bar fare, but the menu includes some items that are genuinely excellent, for example, the Gyro sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. The loaded hot dog is the BOMB! The smoked meat items are prepared in-house and are fresh and delicious. Full bar, and I have never encountered any stale beer. Michelle provides the hospitality and slings the drinks. But what makes this establishment interesting is the people that walk in the door- locals, day trippers, motorcyclists, World Mark vacationers, seasonal visitors, and even pilots. Aviation access is easy from the nearby Siletz Bay State Airport. Tie down your airplane, walk several hundred meters in a westerly direction, then CAREFULLY, RUN across Highway 101, climb the steep stairs, turn right, and...
Read moreA quaint little Tavern in the town of Gleneden Beach, Oregon. It has been there for many, many years, and has been a local mainstay and hang out for local residents and visitors alike. It was recently purchased by a group of two couples, that have cleaned, remodeled, and upgraded significantly. There is a deck behind the tavern, that is easily accessible, for smoking, and being outdoors, as opposed to the indoor area of the tavern. They also serve a variety of hard liquor drinks, and have call Liquors as well as beer and wine, which is a new thing for that location. They also are serving Burgers, as well as other food items, and have a nice limited menu. Definitely worth a visit if you're at the coast, and I definitely will return when I go to the coast in the future. Friendly staff, and I know you will enjoy yourself if you pay a visit...
