Great quality cooking and ingredients! Fair prices. I'll say though, the whole operation would benefit from some more structure. But I'd still recommend the place!
I was served yogurt with fresh, delicious fruit, pancakes tasting better than what I make at home, and coffee with rich flavor! The process of getting to that point wasn't very straightforward, though!
You order at the front desk before sitting down, which leads to a crowd of groups standing around, deciding what to order. Naturally, there aren't enough menus to give out! After ordering, my group was split up, because the cashier had to leave to help with something. To order food, my friend had to stand around for 5 minutes after I myself left to sit down at a table, and this brought him close to walking out! It also was not communicated well how to order, because it's mainly just on a sign. Now, I actually do like this hybrid self service style of diner, but I shouldn't have to ask a staff member about something like how to get water. It just needs to be explained better, and they may just need 1 more staff member to make sure it all runs smoothly without angering customers. I do like the decor, and it was fun to look around the establishment. Of course though, I noticed another sign giving directions on how to change the music playing, making me wonder if anyone is able to change the music to whatever record they want? Not made clear!
All in all, I think the kitchen staff is doing a great job, but there's something very ADHD-like about how the place is organized. I give this place a 5 star because it's the food that matters most to me, even if it took some time and confusion to get there.
(Side note - acoustic absorbing material would be a good idea to reduce conversation bleed and make the music...
Read moreMy family and I stop here frequently as it is on our way to a family vacation spot. Upon arrival we noticed that the sign was different but didn't think anything of it. When we walked up to the door, we seen the sign said open. We walked in and noticed the inside was completely different and redesigned. We always stop to get breakfast sandwiches, drinks and always use a bathroom break. The inside was empty, but we didn't think anything of it and continued to proceed to the bathroom. As I walked up to the bathroom I knocked and didn't get a response, so I proceeded to open the door. I was approached by a male named Eric Danforth who happens to be the new owner of this establishment as of January 2024. He very rudely said we are closed if you don't see the flag on the pole then we are closed. I then informed him that the sign on the door said it was open and he proceeded to be very rude and demeaning and said to leave. Didn't even apologize for the misconception of the establishment being open or the startle that was given when I entered the bathroom and a VERY large man walking towards me (remind you after I knocked on the door and the door was unlocked). I will be letting my family know about this encounter and we unfortunately will not ever be stopping here again, which is a shame because we always looked forward to seeing the friendly faces and all the antiques that were once there. This establishment is far from warming and embracing and I didn't feel at home or as if the establishment was doing a good service to the community. It's a shame that this establishment isn't inviting anymore and what it has turned into within such a short...
Read moreWe went here while on our way to a family vacation spot in upstate New York, and it’s a place that’s common for us to stop during our trips. Well, we decided to stop on our recent trip and we saw that the sign said opened, so we walked up and went inside. We were greeted to the place being empty, but didn’t think anything of it due to no one in the parking lot, and noticed that the place looked different from what we once remembered it being. One of us from the group, being female, decided to use the bathroom, which was unlocked, she knocked on the door to make sure no one was in there, there was no answer, so she opened the door, and was greeted with a shock of someone at the door. She apologizes, and was responded to with they were closed, and if the flag wasn’t outside, they weren’t opened, and were asked to leave in a rude manner, and we couldn’t even quickly use the bathroom. Even with the place being closed, he could have offered the bathroom for us to use, and didn’t have to be rude in the way he...
