Culver’s — Restaurant in Ottumwa

IGNORED AND HUMILIATED!!! About 1 month ago, I went here to order a Concrete Mixer. There were no other customers there and about 9 employees at the front. I waited about 3-4 minutes while my order was on screen and people were talking to each other. I then noticed a girl point at me and talk to her friend behind her hand and start laughing while staring at me. I went to the counter and asked for a manager. Some guy came up, asked what happened. I told him and he gave me my money back and said they were just kids. I asked for a corporate number and he said they didn't have one. I looked online and found one. I called to complaint and received a call back from this same guy, Bryce, who said he was the general Mgr. When I asked to talk to the owner, he said he talked to his Mom and sister who own the business and that they agreed with how he handled thing. Again, he said it was just a few minutes wait and that they were just kids. There was no sincere apology. I called back the hotline about 1 week later and told them what happened. Inspired by a Karen to write a review: Clean bathrooms, clean and neat dining room, very friendly employees, fast service, delicious burgers and amazing custard! I love that kids get a scoop of custard with the meal.

I had great experience the whole time there and then we witnessed a Karen call over a manager. She began yelling, cussing, and being completely unreasonable in her demands. She even asked the assistant manager to bring the general manager out because she decided an assistant manager wasn't good enough for her. The whole time, this assistant manager remained calm, polite, never raised her voice, offered reasonable solutions (that Karen decided were ridiculous), and was extremely professional. I was very impressed with how the assistant manager handled the situation.

Keep I mind this review is relative to other fast food. My wife and I both had Culver's Deluxe burger on our last visit. There are many reasons we love Culver's and visit them when we are in town. We really like the crispy edges of their butter burger patties, which gives kind of a carmelized taste to the meat. But more than that, we love the fresh veggies including lettuce and red onion, which are always crispy. You don't normally get red onion slices on burgers and it gives a bit of a more special flavor. We also like their crinkle-cut fries, which are always really hot and tasty. Finally, their frozen custard is very delicious, and they offer a very small-size option, which my wife loves, for when you are already full, but want a small desert treat that doesn't push you over the edge!
