Hobby Lobby — Local services in Ottumwa

I fell in love with this store the very first time i had ever been there almost 2 months ago however this last visit has changed my opinion about this company all together. My fiancee and I were in the store killing time wandering about really had nothing better to do so we were exploring every isle taking our time looking and had planned on doing some light shopping. Oddly enough after I spent some considerable amount of time in the jewlery making isle looking at different chams for several different projects i am working on we decide to move on to a different area only to notice 6 employees were following us into each isle. Literally I counted 6 employees all the same 6 with each isle we went down. All were watching us as if we were criminals. When asked why we were being followed we got told that it was her job to be restalking and organizing the isles. Mind you rather rudely. I stated so it takes 6 employees to do each isle and miraculously you and the other 5 employees have now followed us since the jewellery isle which is at least 6 to 8 isles now. She replied rather snotty well I am sorry if you feel that way but its my job. I have yet to return to this store as I feel it was uncalled for and very much treating us as if we were stealing basically accusing us of doing something of the criminal nature which neither of us had nor had any intent. It was very bad customer service tactic. I would think a company of this size would know better how to address let alone aproach the customer if they had indeed felt like said person was doing wrong other than to stalk them throughout the store making them feel unwanted. I can not say whether or not I will ever return to this store or purchase from them again for any reason. I might find a different craft store to continue my jewlery makings among...

I recently started a macramé business. It has taken off in the past month. Besides the online sales I have been contacted by a store owner who asked if she could sale my creations in her store. Which I recently did. I purchased most of my materials from Hobby Lobby. And also was going to purchase card stock and tags and numerous other materials that I find my self in need of now. However after a visit to this store today I probably will shop Michael's in cedar rapids when I visit my daughter there. Why? Well here is why. My daughter who is going to help me make tags for my items and business cards ask a manager for specific item and he was rude saying how would I know and they laughed at her then he asked another employee to help her and they walked off. However the manager proceeded to harass me rushing around and giving me dirty looks as I was trying to purchase some more items.. like I said my macrame business is taking off I'm not rich yet and probably won't be however all the money that I was making I was putting right back into materials that I was purchasing from hobby lobby. I'm not sure exactly what's his motive was. But after he was rude to my daughter and laughed at her we chose to stop shopping right then and went to checkout. Guess what I will be shopping someplace else I go to Cedar Rapids about three times a month and that should be enough for me to go to Michaels and purchase everything I need.you just...

I went here about 2 weeks ago in search for some weddings items. I was with my mother in law my fiance and our child. An older lady named Sherri helped us cut a string of jewels and during that encounter she was extremely rude to not only me but my mother in law and my child. My mother in law asked if the string could be used as straps for a wedding dress and she said “I don’t make wedding dresses so I don’t know” in a rude tone. She then continued to say that with every question and was so unhelpful. I’m not sure why she works in that department if she’s not equipped to be kind to people when giving customer service. My child stood near her behind the counter and just attempted to watch her cut the string, she didn’t touch or even really say anything and this woman yelled at her “this is my area you need to not be in here” in an awful tone. Any thing we asked or said around her was followed up with some type of nasty remark. She made us extremely uncomfortable to the point that I’d rather just go elsewhere than deal with someone so rude for no reason. I spent a lot of money here and next time I will definitely take my business to a store with a better environment for my family.
