Went to Oscar’s for dinner (around 6:30pm) on Mother’s Day this year with my husband and son. We arrived at it was very busy! We had a bit of a wait to get in the door but we knew the people ahead of us (they had a large party) so it was nice to visit and chat. 😄 When we got to the hostess stand they said there would be a five minute wait for our party of three. All in all I think we waited around 25 minutes. We were seated and given menus. A few minutes later chips and salsa and drinks. The service was a little slow but again it was very busy. Let me just say that they had the best salsa I’ve had out of all the local Mexican restaurants. It had flavor and spice! I’m praying that they don’t change it! We ordered a burrito, the quesabirrias, and arroz con pollo. We also ordered from the bar, a margarita and a modelo. The menu has your standard Mexican restaurant fare. Everything we had was delicious! My burrito had pico de gallo in it and again this was the best pico I’ve had out of all the Mexican restaurants! The only thing I didn’t like was my margarita. It was meh. I ordered it on the rocks but there was nothing around the rim and the actual drink was neither here nor there. I think it was due to how busy they were. And maybe it would be better frozen and not on the rocks. I’m going to go back when it isn’t super busy and try again. All in all it was a great experience and we enjoyed...
Read moreWe are from Etown and our buddy Jeff, told us that Oscar’s was the best Mexican food he’s ever had and that the owner takes pride in his food and service and actually cares about the customers and their experience. From the fresh chips and amazing flavor of the salsa(it has a kick and isn’t basic salsa) to the sweet tea that doesn’t taste like dirty leaf water, my food was amazing! I was going to get tacos carne asada because that’s what it’s called at every Mexican restaurant I ever go to but the waiter pointed at the street tacos when I was explaining my modifications of the meal and I didn’t even see that on the menu because I was looking for key words that are on the other restaurant menus I’ve seen. He saved the night by doing that because they were exactly what I was wanting and they were the best I’ve had in Kentucky. I’m from Arizona so I take Mexican food seriously. 😂 I’d make the long drive every week to experience his food, himself and his employees. I recommend...
Read moreI want to start by saying the food was absolutely amazing! With that said, the service was slow as molasses. We had like 3 waiters I believe which was kind of odd and confusing. Every time one of them would come to ask about drinks or something it would take a long time to get whatever we requested. Drink= 10 mins, salsa= 10 mins, refill= 10 mins, etc. luckily we weren’t in a hurry but if someone was they would have been in trouble. I will also add that it was Friday evening to be fair. I’m just saying that everything was painfully slow. So much so that I requested the check as early as possible because I knew at this point it was going to take a bit. I’m sure we will go back at some point and give it another try as the food was very good. I’ve eaten at a LOT of Mexican restaurants and it’s...
