El Patron Corona Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Oxford

Update 3/11/22- contacted email response follow up from “owner” a day or two after their posted reply encouraging me to. No response, I suspect it is a hired firm handling reviews/complaints for them. If true so much for customer service.

2/26/22- had high hopes but also expected a few rough edges being that this location was new. We were seated in middle of dining area- which turned out to not be such a great spot. Had to ask for a waiter. Tables around us seated after us got their food and wrapped up before we got ours. When we communicated our dismay when our food arrived we had no silverware and had to again wait for it- then cheap pre-wrapped plastic silverware was given to us. When we bocked about silverware waiter began to argue saying “everyone” had plastic but it was not the case. Asked for manager and began to eat. Food was good they comped a round of drinks... but no manager. Waiter returned- asked where manager was and was told he was “cooking” in back. Finally told waiter we were not paying until we saw manager... miraculously manager appeared.... funny the manager was the bartender that served us while we waited for our table, so server was somewhat dishonest. Told manager about tables that came after us and turned over... one table adjacent to us turned 3 times while we were there. Numerous tables came after us, got food and left before we ever got food. In the end the bill was comped, but i would have preferred it to have been a good evening, and to have paid the bill as normal. Not sure if we would try again after patron corona Oxford has been open a while. Eat out all the time, been years since I have had any...

Our first visit.

Service staff was attentive & responsive. My wife & I, both, had the fajita plates. She had chicken, while I had combo fajitas (chicken & beef).

The flavors were exceptionally magnificent. I could detect something different with the onions & peppers. I believed they were soaked or sautéed prior to total dish assembly. This was awesome. Because, the peppers & onions were not al dente.

The chicken fajita plate had a generous portion of good sized chicken strips. Whereas, the combo fajita plate had some of those chicken strips. But, the beef was cut into smaller bits - sort of like sirloin tips. I wish they were longer strips. However, this does not deter me. And, YES, I will order this dish again.

As I had mentioned, the flavors were very good - magnificent.

The staff, attentive, responsive & pleasant to interact with.

The floor is boisterous with conversation & music. And after a few moments, you are in the zone of enjoyment & energetic ambience.

Listen I don’t usually leave bad reviews for palaces and I’m a huge food lover - unfortunately I wasn’t able to try their food because I ordered my food at the desk and I told them imma be outside at the tables waiting for it and they said ok I go inside to check on it because there is ppl outside sitting and got their all their food and came here like 5 minutes ago, mind you I’ve been waiting for 20m and she didn’t even put my order in…… told me it’s gonna be 10 minutes, I just left I didn’t even argue like that’s just bad service you have 3 server at the desk all heard me and shook their head down and agreed (I don’t think they speak good English but misunderstanding or not I’m sitting at your table in your restaurant you’re not going to check to see if “everything good” “can I get you a water” “have you ordered” like just Woww...
