I never want to give a bad review, especially during opening week. However, I'm only giving a 2 because our waitress was clearly busting her butt to pick up the slack of the rest of the staff. Self seating, waiting to be acknowledged, 20 minutes before that happens. Not our waitresses fault, clearly a kink in opening week that can certainly be remedied. However, we did seat ourselves, get menus ourselves, get napkins ourselves. Next, our super nice waitress came by, we ordered the virgin Pina colada. Presentation was good, and the drink was good as well. Ordered the guacamole, which was also good. Just took 45 minutes to come to the table. Lacked cilantro, but overall that's where the good parts ended for us. The wait time was I suppose, expected... Clearly busy, clearly opening week. I get it, I wasn't really even that bothered by it because you can SEE it's a stressful time for everyone trying to appease the masses. So I won't fault on time. Being a vegetarian at a Mexican restaurant is usually easy. Veggie tacos are pretty standard. I asked if I could take the ingredients from the vegetarian burrito and make it into tacos, figuring that wasn't too challenging... And we also ordered a vegetarian fajita. In the interm of waiting for our meal, a table behind us was clearly not having a good time, sent half of their meals back. In hearing their discussion with the management, I realized the tacos I would receive may come out different then anticipated. On the menu there's multiple ways to order a taco (apparently) and you have to state exactly what toppings you're expecting or it will come plain. So I revised my order asking for all the veggie ingredients, cheese, lettuce tomato etc. Over an hour went by and we finally received the meals. We also should have sent ours back but ate it because, honestly, we just felt bad... My tacos were so lackluster. My waitress had so much enthusiasm and heart, trying her best, and the food is in no way a reflection on her part to make sure it was right. She even showed me how she put it in as "all the veggies you can do!!!" On the ticket. Tacos were a set of 3, with 2 (flour, I think?) tacos layered on top of each other with a few mushrooms, a little bit of spinach and some lettuce and tomato. Zero flavor. The crema.... I can't tell if it was supposed to be avocado or cilantro, but it also had zero flavor. The rice was crunchy. And the beans, I wholeheartedly anticipated would be black beans and it was a cold pinto bean mash. I ended up taking the tacos apart and building my taco how I personally would have made it. Aka: mixed the beans and rice with salt and pepper, layered it on the taco, put the mushrooms back on it and put leftover guac on top. It lacked so much, but after you wait almost 2 hours you just... Do it. The veggie fajita wasn't fully cooked, they were crunchy. No flavor at all. Send back worthy but again, we get opening week and staffing is hard....we just didn't want to add to the stress of the evening we were experiencing. The atmosphere was rough - one table visibly upset, 1-3 tables just walked after lack of attention and/or food. Only our waitress was full of smiles while everyone else looked so upset to be there. While I believe in second chances, this place will not have mine. The lack of knowledge about the menu, no flavor, lack of options and just overall difficulty ordering and with having to ask for hot sauce, sour cream, water, silverware etc.... shows that the management did not prepare their wait staff at all and felt like they were setting them up for failure. I wish I took photos of the meal but I did not; especially for the...

We were seated right next to the cashier but it took 20 minutes for anyone to come over to us and ask us for our drinks. Every time we finished our water my husband had to walk up to the front and ask for a refill because the waitress never brought it! There were only two tables of people in the restaurant so it wasn’t exceptionally busy. The food was okay but pretty bland for Mexican food. No spice.

Any Mexican place I have ever been to gives you complimentary chips and salsa as soo as you sit down. Here you get one small bowl of watered down salsa and about 10 chips but only after your food comes. Refills are NOT complimentary. It doesn’t matter how big your party is, one one bowl of salsa and one plate of chips.

We ordered guacamole but it was flavorless. I had to add lime and salt to make it better. Then we asked for a tray of chips for our guacamole and we were told we got them with our salsa.

The carne asada taco was bland. Corn tortills were over fried and crunchy. My husband got the enchilada which had cubed chicken instead of the typical shredded. It was also filled with cheddar cheese which we found very odd for Mexican food. I hate to say it was the burritos at Taco Bell are more flavorful.

Definitely won’t be going back or...

My husband and I decided to go for Mexican this evening and we happen to be in the Oxford area. We decided on this place because the outside looked appealing. When we entered, the decor was really pretty and festive. It definitely gave the vibes I believe it was going for. The music was also great. The service was also great. It got pretty busy however, our waitress was still very attentive. The reason I gave it three stars is because my husband and I agreed that the food was just OK. Most of it lacked flavor. The al pastor taco for example was not the best. It tasted like they just added the pineapples on top and did a quick mix. It wasn't really a combination of the meat and the pineapple an al Paso taco usually gives. I was not a fan of the corn tortillas at all as well. The churro was a bit dry maybe having it with a dipping sauce or ice cream would be a better combo. The rice and beans lacked flavor and this was honestly my least favorite chile relleno I've ever had. My husband enjoyed his torta. I unfortunately would not return...

We had been curious to visit La Terraza since they opened, so before we went to Rich Farm up the street, we decided to check them out for dinner. The staff was kind, and there was plenty of seating on the main level, upstairs, and outside. One of the first things we were surprised to see was that they had only non-alcoholic options. We asked, and they said they’re still trying to get their liquor license and that they’re BYOB. I understand, but definitely a little bit of a draw back and unexpected from a Mexican restaurant. The menu had a lot of options, including breakfast which I’ll have to keep in mind, and the food came out quickly. The guacamole was prepared table-side, and though nothing was bad, it just didn’t beat our favorite in our hometown. I didn’t find it to be super authentic tasting, and the rice and beans definitely lacked flavor. Good option to have in Oxford though.

I love Mexican food, so I was excited to see this new addition open in Oxford. Casual atmosphere and friendly staff. Complimentary chips and salsa when you are seated. My boyfriend ordered the fajitas, and I was surprised to see they only came with rice and beans. Usually fajitas are served with cheese, and sour cream, guacamole and/or salsa, or other toppings. Sour cream is listed on the menu as a side for $2 and guacamole $5. Guacamole is usually an additional charge at most restaurants, but I was surprised to see sour cream as well. Especially since it is such a commonly ordered item. I got the Birria tacos, which were crispy, cheesy and flavorful. We ended the meal with churros which were delicious. *Of note, no liquor license yet, so only soft drinks and virgin pina coladas/margaritas are served.
