Me and my buddy Shaun visited this place before we hit up Pacific City Beach to complete our camping trip, and I love the atmosphere. Cozy, warmly lit, and eclectically decorated pub with great, kind service (though slow for sure as it seems just one person serves everyone inside), and the food also was solid.
We both ordered the Lingcod, and it was delicious, but it had the consistency and even flavor of Flounder to me, which is not the signature steaky meaty large flakes with a unique flavor like Lingcod is known for, which puzzled me. The price was $17, which is insane to me given the portion size. Makes Burgerville's Halibut Fish & Chips baskets seem cheap in comparison now, which is insane and tough to pull off. They are however a small one stop mom and pop, so I can excuse the excessive price a bit. Still too much for sure, however.
The tables all come with bottles of ketchup and mayo mixed, ranch and a third condiment I cannot currently recall for some reason.
The bathroom was clean, and I appreciate the humor in the art of the place. Chicks and cocks (a classic) adorn the respective bathroom doors, "Please Do Not Tease Or Feed The Help" on the wall behind our table, and various humorous stickers on the window by the front door facing outside.
I also love the classic true small town atmosphere to it, as when there, you can tell everyone knows everybody there, and holds conversations with each other and use each other's first names. That's community right there! Love that.
If you pay attention on the drive to and from Pacific City, you'll notice each of the businesses this pub gets some of their food from - Jandy's is between Tillamook and the Tillamook Air Museum, Dory's (who supposedly supplies the Lingcod) is located just before you properly enter the main city itself on the south side of Brooten Road, on the bay's north shore. I love that all these local mom and pop businesses work together. Such a rarity in...
Read moreNot impressed at all. Ordered takeout for my family and I and was told it would take 20-25 minutes. At the 30 minute mark the young man who had taken my order saw me still waiting outside and went to check on my order. He came outside after checking and said they had lost my order in the kitchen and that they were working on it now and it would be out in a few minutes.
My daughter had ordered a cheeseburger with only cheese, ketchup, and pickles. When she opened her order her burger had been prepared all the way to include thousand island dressing. I took the burger back and the young man went back to the kitchen to get another burger prepared as ordered. When that burger came out he asked us to check it and good thing we did. This one had mayonnaise on it with the ketchup, pickles and cheese. He took that back and a few minutes later another man came out to our car and asked if we were the ones having trouble getting the correct burger. I don’t know if he was the owner or the cook. He asked exactly what we wanted on the burger and repeated it. A few minutes later he came out with the correct burger. My daughter said the burger was really good except for the fact it took about an hour to get it right.
I chose to have the shrimp basket and it was just ok. Shrimp were small and mostly breading with little flavor. We...
Read moreNice little hole in the wall!! (Refreshing from the pub down the road that is a tad over priced). ENORMOUS plates of food. I had the french dip and my boyfriend had a double chili cheese burger with the works. There was only one table open but we were welcomed not only by the server but the customers! (haha!) It seems they enjoyed this place as much as we did. the french dip was omggggg... Had maybe a few too many onions because they kept slipping out of the sandwich but hey, the more the merrier. The criss cross fries were SO GOOD. Crunchy, big, and the fry sauce on the table was perfect as well. Maybe they could have been refrigerated and brought out with the meal as it was very runny and sort of pooled over the whole plate. THIS IS A PUB so there are people playing pool, lotto, or just drinking. It was pretty busy when we went there but we could hear each other talk, the beer was cold, the server was fast as hell and friendly, food was delicious and well portioned, and the best part is WELL PRICED. for 2 craft beers, and 2 meals with some add-ons it still only came out to about 30 bucks. We will be returning when we come back into town! Much better than paying $80+ for one meal down the road....
