Amargosa Café — Restaurant in Pahrump

Was pleasantly surprised. When we drove past this place on our way to death valley, I imagined it to be a place deserted long time back. I googled the place to read it's history and was surprised to know it's a lodging place with a cafe since the 1980s. The building has been there since the 1920s. First decent cup of coffee since Orlando. We Norwegians are serious about our coffee. Never imagined I would've to drive 2/3 of the continental US before someone could brew a real espresso. Didn't try the food, but what the table next to us had looked great, with local produce. Prices where reasonable, being the only place around for miles, you would expect them to be higher. Ahh, a gentle lagoon amongst vast expanse of nothingness ! After a few days in DV I was almost sucked into the void, till i stumbled upon this gem of a cafe, well maintained, traditional and yet youth and spunky. Ohh the yummy apple almond cake.. yumm
