Made the trip via Blessing just to lunch at the coffee shop. We waited a couple minutes to see a worker, then other guests clues us what to do. Then the cashier appeared to guide us and take our money. It was $15 each for the weekend lunch. . The arrangement is a buffet. You get your plate at the cashier, then work through the buffet. There is salad, hot dishes, drinks (water and tea are included), breads, and cobbler. You can make multiple trips, but need to use a fresh plate for each trip. . I got liver and onions, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and--of course--kernal corn. Expect home-style cooking, you won't be disappointed. . The liver and onions were fantastic. The kernal corn was sweet. The mashed potatoes had lots of lumps, which I like. The star was the fried chicken. . The breading was flavorful and ultra crisp. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. It was a nice big breast, with plenty to enjoy. Even so, I went back for a second breast. I picked the largest, which was on the bottom and subject to continued cooking for that reason (the pans are kept on a stove top); it was overcooked for that reason. If you stick to the freshest and are not a glutton, you won't have better fried chicken. . I came away stuffed to the gills....

We went there on Saturday for breakfast since its the only day they serve biscuits and gravy. When we got there the older lady said it'll be an hour wait, we thought it was worth it since we were looking forward to it. There were other 3 tables waiting for their food. One hour later only one table got their breakfast, they said they only have one cook. Then the older lady came out and said they are out of biscuits, I asked was one hour not enough to make it??!! She said she didn't look at our order yet...ughh?!! There were two other ladies in the kitchen started bringing out hot lunch already like 40 min before the lunch. When the older lady finely brought our food, I asked how come they were making lunch already but couldn't make our breakfast for 1,5 hour...her answer was - Well its look like you never been in Blessing TX, we have been doing it for 50 years. They definitely don't care about their...

We had lunch on Sunday August 21 - we had been told how good it was and this was our first time coming. We were so disappointed! The fried chicken was so dry and the roast was the same. The only thing good was the turkey and dressing. Our thought was that this must have been food leftover from Saturday except for the turkey which they advertised was served on Sundays. You could tell that the chicken had been put in the oven to reheat and there were burn marks on the bottom from the pan. Selection of vegetables was nice and tea and desert came with the meal. Price was $15 which would have been a good deal if the food had been good. Had homemade rolls and cornbread but I hate to say we found weevils in our rolls. Sad to say that we will...

This place is steeped in history, and I think so are the pots they cook in , I say this because I am sure my southern grandmother would approve. Last visit, I had a thin fried pork chop , green beans , blackeye peas, and a yeast roll that only was not perfect because it was cold. If you have to go to the restroom and step into the hall of the hotel , you have stepped back in time , and there are pictures of long ago. It's so interesting. So if you are driving thru Blessing , slow down and have lunch , but stop between 11 and 2, or you are out of luck, and I would say the closer to 11, the better. For 14.00, you get salad , lunch , drink, and dessert. It is a deal. 5 you better have cash , no credit / debit cards here!!

First time there today, March 2021. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, turnip greens, cornbread(southern style), peach cobbler, all you can eat for 10$. We were there on a Sat at noon and it was not crowded, not a real big dining area. You don't wait long to get your food because it is sitting on the stove in the back room. The menu is very simple, a couple choices for meat and the same for vegetables, a salad and desert and if you want more or you want to try something else just ask. If you've never tried this place it's worth the stop. Serving is back to buffet style on this second trip to the Hotel, Oct 2021. Food just as good as last time, well worth the visit.

Praise the Lord and Bless the cook at the Blessing Hotel! It’s pure-D homestyle cooking, take all you want but eat all you take. Expect to sit at a larger table visiting with local folks, sheriffs deputies, and a few rambling souls. Good food is the great equalizer. Numerous veggies and 2-3 mains, kept warm on antique but very functional stoves (photo below) plus tea and dessert for $14! The experience alone is worth twice that and the food is slap yo mama good! Little bite of Heaven along the Texas Gulf Coast.
