Back at Tran for round 2. We came for the wonton soup. But should have known they were sold out after a weekend of hungry customers with the same longing to taste that sweet reddish hue, the one Iāve been craving for almost 2 years now. This time it was up to us to begin the expansion of our culinary horizons at Tran. As we started analyzing the infinite menu options we were amazed at all of the mouth watering creations made by Tranās hands, we got the egg rolls. The perfectly crisp and flaky wrapper, made a crunch that filled the room. The delicately chared ends were something to behold. Might I suggest a light dredge in the sunrise red sweet and sour sauce that will instantly transport you across the pacific. Wow what a bite. What a memory.
On the main course. With so many tempting and tantalizing options we decided on the Pork and Shimp Soup, eager to taste that delicate broth and symphonic flavors tickle my palate. Upon first taste I instantly knew that I would be forever a changed man. From the fresh shrimp pulled right from the gulf this morning to the pork tender as my late grandmothers warm embrace. The mastery, artistry, and then final culmination made me stop, pause, and reflect on the path that life has taken me down. The broth gave this dish a clean and savory profile light on the tip and savory and flavorful on the swallow. A flawless golden hue that became slowly tinged red with delicately place drops of Siracha, now every carefully chosen Ingredient has become intertwined as one. Exactly as you would expect. Tran you did it again and continued expand our our minds, hearts, and souls through your food.
Pro tip: Request extra cilantro, this take you south of the border and leave you enchanted...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I are here in palacios tx from Louisiana for work . This town has some hidden gems for restaurants and Tranās is #1 on the list... Owner Johnny is just friendly ,down to earth and very respectful. The staff are the same , always with smiling faces . Even though due to covid-19 itās only drive thru currently, you still feel so welcomed as I could only imagine the hospitality & experience you would get if you was able to dine in . Louisiana could learn something on hospitality from Tranās in the restaurant industry. Food , ok ok ok thereās not even a word made ladies and gents in any language to describe how delish the food is here. Weāve ordered several different items on the menu and not one disappointed, NOT ONE!!! I personal donāt eat leftovers and letās just say hubs was in shock the next day . Serving sizes are more than enough , you wonāt be hungry later thatās for sure . Prices are more than reasonable. This place has it going on for sure and I surely hope that anyone reading this puts this on their list of places to try I PROMISE youāll want to go back twice each and everyday š Thank you to Johnny and his staff for being such a great pillar in the community here in this hidden paradise of a town to the residents all the way to us folks that visit from all around .

Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisiting Palacios for the weekend and my first impression on driving up is that THIS is where the locals come. The interior is simply decorated and clean, with large pictures of local scenes adorning the walls. Our waiter, Gabriel, was quick to welcome us and eager with recommendations upon learning it was our first visit. The plates were presented without delay, piping hot and well seasoned, but NOT overly seasoned. The grilled shrimp were nicely charred, but not tough or rubbery. And the grilled vegetables were about as good as I've ever eaten. Great experience, great food and an excellent staff that are quick to attention, without being overbearing. We will definitely be back. Well done guys.
EDIT: seeing large portions of banana pudding being delivered to tables as we were getting ready to pay the bill, we inquired about getting one to go........ only to be told that reservations for the banana pudding have to be received by 11am, because it's generally sold out by then.
Note to self; call ahead for...
