My sister and I went to plush horse in Palos Friday night as I wanted to try the Drunken Pony Shake posted on the Plush Horse Facebook page, that was a total nightmare. Ordering with the cashier was fine she was great, she reassured me they had made many of those shakes that day. My sister got a sundae and I got a pony cone w/ strawberry ice cream along with my drunken pony shake. As I’m waiting I notice, these kids making the ice cream are looking at my order ticket. Laughing saying “what is a drunken pony?” Each of them saying “I’m not making that”. At this point I just assume they are messing around and actually are going to make it. I think I hear my name but it is someone with a name that was similar to mine. The blonde girl with the big nose was rude when I asked if she called Athena and said “Are you Meena, did you order the peppermint ice cream?” I apologize and said “I thought you said Athena, I'm sorry” as it was hard to hear, very loud with all the people. 10 minutes in, they call my name for my sister’s sundae and tell us have a nice day. I tell my sister to go sit and start eating while I continue to wait. 20 minutes have gone by and still haven’t gotten the rest of my order. The people after us received their order and are gone. I’m a little upset because how hard is it to make a shake and a pony cone? I try to get the attention of one of the kids and they ignore me. A blonde girl with a shaved head finally notices me and I tell her I’ve been waiting 20 minutes and only got part of my order. She apologized and asked what my name was. Looked for my ticket and said, “ I don’t see your ticket up there do you have your receipt?”. I show her my receipt and she apologizes and says “I will have someone make it right now”. I tell her thank you and continue to wait. Now 30 minutes has passed and I’m highly upset. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and love this place. Never had an issue until that night. I’ve been here when the line was out the door and there was like 6-7 ice cream makers and they were getting orders out, so not an excuse of it being too busy. I finally say to my sister I’m going to the cashier to ask for a manager. Right as I’m walking over the shaved hair girl appears with my shake as she made it and my pony cone. I’m assuming they could tell I was getting ready to ask for a manager and wanted to avoid getting in trouble. At that point, I was really disappointed and upset. I let my sister finish her sundae and we left. The owner needs to talk to there staff about professionalism because they very much lacked it. Too busy joking and laughing, making fun of people’s orders. One guy knocked over a to go bag with ice cream, picked it up, looked at it, and left it on the counter, like there is no way that ice cream survived that fall. I hope they remade it for the customer. Please talked to your teens that make the ice cream about being a little more professional and it’s not ok to make fun of what people order and then someone how my ticket disappears, please have a talking because it makes me not want to return to Plush Horse if it’s going to be like this. I love this place and have been coming here since I was 6 years old, 19 years of a place I always looked forward to getting...

Food: There was a plethora of flavors to choose from in addition to seasonal flavors. While I didn't order any scoops, I decided to order a Minted Pony drink which is just a scoop of mint chocolate ice cream over hot chocolate with whipped cream. It was the perfect order to-go in December. It wasn't overly minty from the scoop, but instead the perfect compliment. I'd easily order it again during colder weather.

Service: As far as service goes, walk up to the counter when you are ready to order. They'll call out your order over the counter when it's ready. When I asked the cashier if she had any recommendations, she had more than enough knowledge about all the rotating flavors as well as the traditional ones. Overall, very friendly.

Atmosphere: I am obsessed with the decor here. It has an old horse-carnival ride esthetic, hard to explain until you see it for yourself. I wouldn't mind dining in to have a seat by the window with the neon sign or even near the huge plush horse they have coming out of the wall. If all the seats weren't taken, I definitely would have. They have ample picnic tables and chairs outside for the...

I just want to give The Plush Horse Ice Cream Shop 5 stars for adapting to COVID-19 with an excellent curb-side service. I got a recommendation to go there for homemade ice cream and upon arriving found out how it worked. In the parking lot there is a special row of curbside only parking spaces with signs that are numbered. Park there and if you need a menu, there was an outdoor stand with individual flyers that list everything they sell. I was amazed at all the different flavors of ice cream they handle. It took a few minutes for our car to read it all to decide. Then call in your order, pay over the phone with a credit card or they will take cash when they deliver your items. When ready your order is delivered to the car window. Everything was bagged extremely well, and also came with a coupon for a free jr cone and also a small bottle of hand cleaner on Halloween & attached to the bag which was a very nice idea on Halloween. Their cones are served upside down in a cup (see my photo). We decided on Strawberry Waffle Cone, Hot Fudge Sunday and Cotton Candy Ice...
