Our little city of Paris has had a few Chinese Buffets try and come through, but with each one...as is the fate of MANY newer restaurants who try their hand at coming here, their stays turned out to be quite limited. I'll admit, I never tried them except for one years and years ago, that I can't even remember the name of. Anyhow, with the exception of our VERY small and limited downtown's Paradise Cafe, when you want your standard Chinese American food fare, Great Wall has you covered. I know that what I'm about to say may be considered blasphemy, or heresy, what have you...but I'm not a big fan of buffets - PERIOD. When I go out for food, I like to have in mind already what it is that I'm going to get to eat. So with that being said...yeah, of course I've had their buffet. And while myself nor my Family have ever really had an issue, I myself just don't like eating food that's just sitting there unattended underneath multiple heat lamps. My Mother and Father are just the opposite of myself when it comes to buffets...of any sort. I've never heard either of them say anything of detriment towards it. I personally, would simply rather make my choice of meal, call ahead, and go and pick it up. A lot of times, no matter how SHORT, or how LONG they'll tell you on the phone that it will be before you drive out for pickup, I've found that you USUALLY do have to wait a few minutes more when you actually get out there. Which honestly is no big deal to me. I and my Parents, as many Parisians here in Town have gotten to know the Family who runs the restaurant, and I have no problem sitting there making a bit of small talk with the lady who takes the calls, and occasionally with a few of the chefs, and waitresses as well for a few before I pick up my absolutely fresh, hot, and 9 times out of 10, pretty daggone delicious meal.
The only thing keeping Great Wall from a full 5*'s, is that, admittedly, there ISN'T a whole lot of "appealing menu options". I can see those who are from a bigger city with many more Chinese American options being a bit disappointed by the lack of "excitement" in the restaurant's menu. But once again, unless you're planning on taking a drive to Lexington or elsewhere, Great Wall pretty much has your standard Chinese American thoroughfare taken care of right here in Town, and the Family operating it, are definitely worth becoming return Patrons to frequent from and get to know. Thanks again guys, lunch today was fantastic. I just finished the rest of my Sweet and Sour chicken off as a...
Read moreThis place is kind of yukky, but my mom enjoys it, so I go with her fairly often. I lean towards the "steamed (baked?)" fish and skip all those gravy lathered dishes that pretty much all look and taste the same, plus they're loaded with unchewable broccoli. They have this ungodly white sauce down on the salad bar that they are passing off as ranch dressing. FRKN GAAAARRRRROOOSSSSSSS. I would at least enjoy a salad there if they offered something besides mystery white sauce to put on it. They added an icecream cooler you can dip from ---- they did this when the "new" china buffet came to town.... incidentally, the new one pretty much sucks, too. haha. oh well.
The staff is non communicative, and they are quite pestery about grabbing your plates from the table... quite annoying.... I don't like people reaching over my table every three minutes to see if I'm finished eating my slice of orange.
Their drinks suck too. whats with the sparing of the ice? you know what? I like ICE in my drinks! especially water. The place smells kinda funny too, sort of like they might have some "plumbing" problems.
Okay, after saying all this negative stuff, I'm sorry if it sounds harsh. I would like to point out that I eat there regularly every four...
Read moreIt's an old shopping mall spot, ain't had many updates as far as atmosphere or the exterior or interior, but they have a small little lunch buffet featuring there most sold items, they also do take out. They don't have delivery that I am aware of but nothing in Paris does, no door dash GrubHub etc. However there food has always been consistent & taste good, nothing incredible but far from not good. The customer service is straight forward, they ask what u want, u tell them, they ask if that's all and ur order be ready in 15 mins . It's the exact same every single time. That's my point about this place is that it never changes and everything is exactly the same Everytime even the food. 2 things I wish was different is there egg rolls (they r always so hard and dry) crab ragoon wontons ( they just don't put enough of the mixture in them, like usually u get a big bite of the bottoms, but even the bottoms are just fried dry wonton!) And those r 2 of my favorite things, at this point I went from loving Chinese food to being bored bc it's so bland and my favs are never what I...
