Critiquing this barbecue establishment proves to be quite challenging due to the absence of any other barbecue restaurants in the vicinity. I have sampled nearly everything on the menu that I would typically enjoy at home or at any other dining establishment. To begin, I must acknowledge the expert preparation of the macaroni, as it is cooked to perfection. However, it appears that they omit the use of milk, which differs from my own preparation of macaroni and cheese where hot noodles are combined with available cheese, resulting in an unpleasant outcome. Regrettably, the baked beans are consistently undercooked, which is quite unfortunate. Despite trying them on multiple occasions, I have found them to be improperly prepared. I have serious doubts about whether the restaurant staff even taste tests their own dishes. owner informed me that he serves the food his sons prefer which seems to cater to a bland, unpalatable palate. Now, turning our attention to the turkey, my apologies, there is no turkey available. Instead, they smoke a processed turkey breast, which I find distasteful. Furthermore, the St. Louis ribs possess an overly sweet candied flavor that is unappetizing. The greasy brisket and beef back ribs along with the revolting pulled pork only add to my disappointment. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this barbecue establishment to anyone. The owner claimed to have conducted a barbecue tour throughout the South, but it seems that he must have visited the most appalling establishments given the subpar quality of his own food. Moreover, the customer service at this restaurant leaves much to be desired. I have been periodically patronizing this establishment for approximately three years and have witnessed no improvements whatsoever. It is clear that what they desperately need is some competition to force them out of business. I fail to comprehend why the owner would invest his retirement funds and his wife's retirement funds into a business without first mastering the art of preparing macaroni and...
Read moreWe tried this for the first time as we've heard several people mention it. My wife called in the order and I picked it up. When I got there they said they were out of ribs and it would be a while so if I wanted to substitute something else. Well they really didn't say I had a choice but more what did I want to substitute. Anyway all was fine. We had 4 orders so got a taste of all the Meats (except ribs) and the sides. None of the side really jumped out at us. Scaled of 1-5 I'd say most where a 3 a couple were 2's. They put some sauce in the bag and it appears all the same flavor. I don't know if they have any other flavor but it was a 4. Kinda sweet, no heat, but good flavor. The Meats were good. All were 3's, none really jumped out, but good. I'd go back if i was near this place but I wouldn't drive out of my way as I did to try it. One thing I didn't believe needed to be shown was the businesses person view of "The Supreme Leader" sign that was on the outside windows and at the cash register. I think businesses are best to just do what's required or mandated by city, county,, state, and federal governments not voice or display their own political beliefs. You may have a lot of repeat customers who will take a negative view regarding anything. That's customers and money lost. So I was not impressed by the business smarts of allowing signs displayed like that. Just a suggestion.
A follow-up to/after the owners response. I never said I took offense to the sign I merely stated that I didn't think it was a smart business decision. However based on the owner response now I might understand more. Might be decent food but poor business decisions may lead to less...
Read moreEdit: Updated review based on quick response from owner and refund for missing item/ service issue. Again—the food was delicious and I’m happy that the owners are clearly involved and attentive to any issues or concerns. This says a lot about a business and it’s clear they care about theirs.
Food was good, but service was seriously lacking. I ordered ahead for curbside pickup since I had an 18 month old napping in the car. When I ordered, their website said it would be ready for pickup immediately (and had me input the make/model/color of my car for who knows what reason since they didn’t actually bring it out). When I arrived (20 minutes later), not only was the food not ready, but the order hadn’t even been started. We were the only customers inside otherwise I’d accept that maybe they were busy/overwhelmed. The worker at the counter was fumbling to pull their mask over their face and while I get that covid numbers are going down, it’s still... my food you’re breathing on. I rarely ever write reviews unless I really feel like it might make a difference, but I’ve tried to make it a point to support small businesses in light of all of the struggles they’ve faced over the past year and always make sure to tip well, even on takeout orders, since I know how brutal this pandemic has been on so many mom and pop shops. Bc of this, today’s experience was especially disappointing and not at all what I’d hoped for based on other reviews of this joint. To top it off, they forgot to include one of the sides we ordered and we didn’t discover it until we got home. For a small family that can’t afford to routinely drop $60 on a meal out, I wish our experience had...
