Mike's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Paupack Township

If I could give this place a negative star I would. We have given them their fair share of chances to provide good food and service and they have failed each time. After our last order we will certainly not be returning. The big guy who cooks the pizza is beyond rude to customers. I once ordered penne vodka at 11:30am and when I came to pick it up he was talking about me to others directly in front of me saying "how could someone order pasta at this time. I don't want to make this" it was completely unprofessional. This past visit we ordered a Sicilian pie and when we placed the order over the phone the same guy was clearly aggravated that we were placing an order at noon at the time they opened. When we picked the pie up it was the smallest scilian pie I have ever been served. It was only 9 slices. We were feeding 9 adults and ordered a scilian because it's a 16 slice pie. When I asked the man why the scilian pie was so small and only had 9 slices he yelled at me saying "what are you talking about! It's an 18inch pie!" He refused to admit that he didn't want to make our pie because they had just opened so he rushed it and didn't spread the dough enough to make a standard size. This is one of the best pizza spots I have ever been to. And I say that as a New Yorker who LOVES pizza. They really know what they’re doing when it comes to making those pies! Not only is the pizza fantastic but the customer service is beyond any I have experienced. The girls are super nice and friendly and the guy making the pizza the day we went was so nice. The claw machine broke the day we were there I was trying to get a ball for my son (2) and he not only put in a dollar out of his own wallet when they fixed it, but when it broke again he went in the back and got the ball that he wanted from the machine. I’m not used to that kind of experience where I’m from and it was so kind and unexpected. Then my son pulled one of the girls to the front with him as she left the bathroom because he wanted to play catch and she did not seem bothered one bit even tho she had to get back to work! Just stopped after my wife’s chiropractor appointment going back home. First time being there. Very pleasantly surprised with everything. Service was great, food was fantastic but we were the only ones there at first. I have rarely been to a restaurant where the tables were spaced apart far enough that I could roll around everywhere with my wheelchair and could have easily even if the place was full. Looks kind of like a hole in the wall ( nice not crappy) from the outside but it was a nice place inside with everything looking kept clean. The area is known for being extremely crowded during the visiting season, twenty minutes to go two miles during summer but it is not very crowded during calm periods. Definitely worth the stop today and will be going there after every chiropractor appointment as we have to go past it and maybe even make a trip just to go there...
