Thought for 22 seconds
Stop whatever you’re doing and get yourself to The GrillFather—this little roadside joint cranks out the best food for miles, full stop.
My family’s Italian‑American and we don’t mess around with sandwiches. If it isn’t homemade‑level quality, we’ll call it out. The GrillFather passes every test:
Chicken Cutlet Hero: Golden, perfectly thin cutlet layered with fresh mozz, ribbons of prosciutto, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, all tucked into a crusty semolina roll you usually only find in NYC or Jersey. One bite and you’re transported to an Arthur Avenue deli.
Smash Burgers: Thought the cutlet couldn’t be topped, we decided to split a double‑patty smash burger “just to taste.” Four of us had already demolished four huge chicken cutlet heroes, yet after one bite of the burger we bought four more and annihilated all of those burgers like it was nothing. Hands‑down the best burger I’ve EVER had. (which i was not expecting)
The place is barely a mile and a half from my lake house, which feels like we hit the culinary lottery. If you’re within driving distance and craving a sandwich or burger that punches way above its weight class, get over there. One bite and your brain will swear you just walked out of a NYC bodega. (honestly even if youre not in driving range, its worth the drive... even if its hours.. its just that unbeatable)
Next on my list: their empanadas. Word is they sneak olives in there—just like my Italian-Argentine Nonna does—so expectations are sky‑high. I’ll report back, but if their track record holds, I’m betting they’ll crush it too.
Bottom line: The GrillFather is the real deal. Go hungry, leave stuffed, and...
Read moreWe finally went today! To the Grill Father! The owner Ryan is a very, very personable, nice guy. His detail and ongoing cleanliness around his grill environment is amazing! I tend to notice these things being in health care. The most amazing thing is the food and Ryan's attention to detail! The eye appealing and completely mouthwatering food is to utterly die for. We had a moist and delicious fried Chicken sandwich (we could have picked grilled) with fresh lettuce, pickles with a sumptuous white sauce on a fresh bun, that was branded with a GF! See picture! It was out of this world. We picked it because a man was just leaving that told us we just needed to get that, he had just ate it and said it was the best ever! Kudos to him, he didn't stear us wrong. Also the Fresh Cut French Fries were awesome, with some skin on them still and if I'm not right... I think sea salt crystals! Cooked to perfection! I took that picture after we ate a bunch, so do not look at that for portion size. It was a nice size for two! Also, his lovely daughter made chocolate cupcakes that were so moist and delicious... he gave us 2 for free! So sweet! Hats off to her for her baking skills as well. What a great first time experience! When Ryan writes "I'll make you a sandwich you can't refuse" I'll tell you he's Not Kidding! A little pricey but well worth the trip!...
