too long, didnt read; Poor customer service. obviously favors frequent locals when food was unavailable upon request when we walked in at 950 but at 1015 another couple walk in and are offered alfredo chicken pizza. lackluster environment. food quality unknown.
Just moved into the area... considering opening my own restaurant in one of the many closed businesses around here after my experiences. My partner and I both still work in the Twin Cities and after after a very long day of work just wanted to grab a nice drink and something small to eat since we had heard the place was good, even if it was a ghost town after 10 pm. We walked in around 950 on a Friday night, the couple of people at the bar quickly stopped what they were doing to stare. Immediate hostile vibes of "strangers dont come around here" ensued. Maybe it was his business casual suit and my jeans and a sweater? We politely asked if they were still serving bar food, to which the male bartender looked over to a woman who seemed to be the manager on duty after she looked us up and down said "no. food stopped at 930." Slightly disgruntled we order anyway. I am a very experimental person when it comes to drinks, my partner is simple. The bar layout can put you RIGHT in front of all of the different liquors available so i was just wondering about all of the fun and different combos i could do with some liquors i hadn't seen before. Cue bartender's unenthusiastic "what would you like?" no suggestions. No friendliness. Cold. I ask what juices/mixers he has and it was like I was speaking another language. "Uh.. orange juice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, theres pop." yikes, ok. simple it is. no sex on the beaches or semi-complex cocktails. Order our drinks, having simple conversation, about 20 minutes later another couple walk in. They ask about food and drinks. I overhear, "Well, all we really have are like some frozen pizzas, sausage, pepperoni, chicken alfredo. maybe some wings."
He takes their order, so I ask after theyre done "is there some food we could bother you for as well since we were told there wasnt any before they got here?" and was reluctantly given a suggestion of a 9 dollar pepperoni/sausage pizza. Okay. deal. I just wanted something simple anyway. Frozen pizza is pretty simple. "okay it'll be about 10 minutes" we order another drink as we wait. 10 minutes goes by. The other couple were given their pizza. looked and smelled delicious. golden crust. mmmmm... now im looking forward to my pizza! 15 minutes have now passed, bartender is arguing about how to make a Hurricane with another guy who walked in. I nudge my partner to ask if the pizza is almost done. "yeah, i said itd be about ten minutes"
20 minutes have now passed and the bartender finally went to check our pizza. Did i say pizza? I meant burnt cheese and undercooked crust. Wish I had taken a picture of it but I was so hungry I didnt care. We just ate our pizza, drank our final drinks and headed out for the night.
Would like to go back to revaluate actual lunch/dinnerfare, but dont expect good...
Read moreWe've tried so many times to support this small town bar/restaurant, but each time are disapointed. This last time was the worst by far. We called in an order based on their online menu, 3 meals and an add on. When we arrived to pick up the food, we were shocked by the price. Not only were the meals much more expensive than it was shown online, but instead of the add on they substitued a whole meal. When we asked them about this, they said "oh did you use the online menu? It is not up-to-date." This place has been running just off phone orders and pick up for the last couple months, but haven't had a chance to update the menu that most people are using to order their food? And they realize it is an issue, as it was the first thing that server asked us. When we said we didn't need 4 meals, showing disatisfaction, we were just given a shrug. So we got the food and went home to eat. We had 2 shrimp meals, around 16 bucks each, a burger and a sandwitch. The burger was dry, obviously a reheated frozen patty, not appetizing. The reuben sandwitch was fine. The 2 expesive meals were a joke. Wilted iceberg lettuce with 2 croutons served as the salads. The breadsticks were again, reheated from frozen. There was a complete lack of spices in the alfredo sauce, and it seems that they didn't use any butter when making it. The shrimp were cold, like they were taken out of the fridge and set on top of the pasta. They certainly weren't pan seared and again, there wasn't any spices on them, not even salt. The bacon on the other meal's shrimp was under cooked and wrapped poorly. We ended up not eating the shrimp with dinner, and instead cooked them ourselves the following day. I cannot believe that there is a legitimately trained chef working there. If there is, then they gave up on life a long time ago. Bad food, poor...
Read moreWe went there Sat 5/25/13. Their nightly special was broiled or breaded Walleye dinner for $14.99. That sounded appealing, My wife and I both ordered the broiled Walleye, as neither of us care for breaded . We were told to help ourselves to the salad bar. We then took ten minutes to flag down the waitress to tell her there were no plates or silverware at the salad bar. When we had finished our salads, they brought out our "breaded" fish dinners. We told the waitress we had ordered broiled , and she said "oh, yeah, I must have punched it in wrong" . She sat our plates down anyway, and walked away. I m not sure what kind of fish we got, but I assure you it wasn't even close to Walleye. To make matters worse, it was not fully cooked. The meat was not flaky, and had that translucent look as opposed to white when it is fully cooked. It took several minutes more to get the waitress attention again, we told her the fish was not cooked fully and she said she would tell the cook. We ate whatever parts we could find that appeared to be cooked, and left the rest. For our troubles we were given $4.00 off the total tab. We...
