The Peculiar Winery — Restaurant in Peculiar

My very first thoughts about the place was that it was absolutely gorgeous and perfect for an event space. I'll be brainstorming reasons (excuses) to rent out the place. (If only they were open before I got married.) Music from the digital jukebox in the background, and the wine, .. mmmm. The wine was absolutely delicious. I personally usually lean more towards the drier red wines but even the sweets and whites are amazing and flavourful without being overly sweet sickening like at other wine tastings I've experienced. I couldn't bring myself to leave without at least A bottle of wine and a free glass from the tasting. They also have shirts and a nice outdoor patio. So excited to go back again. We went today to try the new winery, tThe tasting room looks open and clean .We walked to the counter and asked to taste wines. The lady serving us was very courteous and explained the wine menu. She told us we could pick 6 wines and keep the glasses we used. We went through and picked wines. I only picked 5 from the list and my husband picked 3. We decided on. We picked 2 we liked. We went to pay and and charged us $45.00!. We asked why? Both wines were $30. Together. We asked did the tasting cost? She said yes $6. Per person, a $1.00 a taste. She asked us did she not say that? We said no! Shes said she usually tells people up front. “I’m sorry” it was really annoying that she didn’t say it or there were not posted signs saying so. So even though we would of paid she charged us for the full tasting of 6 each. I really dislike not being upfront...

The lady tonight was incredibly rude from the second we walked in. I tried to lighten the mood by being friendly and kind to her, but her attitude stayed through the night. The frosting on the cake, however, was when we ordered an expensive (but yummy) sausage platter and she took it and threw it in the trash. When I asked about it later upon tabbing out, she said she threw it away. I don't understand why she treated us like this, nor did it make sense because when we bought it she said we could take it home and that she has bags for us to do so.

We come here a lot. Probably spend 100+ a month on wine to take home and more in house. We have referred people here. After this experience, never again. I'm so disappointed because I thought this place was a hidden...
