My review is based on an unfinished course in July of 2017. I called to make a tee time indicating I had never played the course before. The attendant was friendly but offered up no information about the construction of the course (although I had read a little about it online but didn't know the extent of it). The front nine vs the (potential) back nine are completely different animals. The front nine is fairly flat and uneventful but still challenging. I played from the white tees but they play very short on the front nine so if you are a longer hitter I would play the back tees, at least on the front. The whites are tolerable on the back nine but it was not finished so it is unknown how it will completely play out. Two holes on the back 9 were shortened due to construction, 10th played like a par 3 and 18th was a driveable 215 yard (said 260ish) par 4 with a big tree right in the middle of the hole blocking the green. It is a weird after thought hole due to the construction of the new 18th hole which looked really respectable, unfortunately unplayable. Overall the back 9 has a lot of potential and will be a fun addition to the course but I am not sure about these courses that add another nine holes that are a complete contrast to the previous nine holes (e.g. Province Lake or The Links at Outlook). Playability: turf was patchy in some areas of the golf course which is not too uncommon in the northeast but my biggest beef of the course was the rough (as was noted by another reviewer). The fairway didn't really have a "second cut" and the rough was way too long. I spent a lot of time looking for golf balls in the second cut that should have been relativity visible in proximity (we would lose balls in the rough regularly that should be found without problems). This also made shots very penal and since I was playing the course for the first time, I was rewarded frequently with shots out of the rough regularly. The greens were relatively fast compared to what I am used to but I was fine with them. If you are just looking to get out and play the course is okay but frustrating. There is no way to use the back nine for handicap purposes at this time and if you want to avoid the construction, just play the front.
I am a 8 handicap and play 80+ rounds a year. I like to play complete rounds that I can use to gauge my abilities handicap wise but the complete course is not ready for that. It is entertaining course, good for a fun round and hope once the construction is done, they can afford to have their grounds crew mow another day...
Read moreThis rating is for their wedding services My sister recently got married at Pembroke Pines. The property is beautiful and the wedding went pretty smoothly. However, there are important things for brides to know if they want to book their wedding here that my family felt was odd due to the high price of the venue. The bride was not contacted for a 6-month check in like promised at contract signing. Meeting ended up getting skipped all together. Coordinator did not listen to directions about wedding decor (every box was labeled where decor should go with detailed pictures) and didn't ask anybody for help when needed. My mom went down to check on the progress only to find that the coordinator almost didn't hang something because she didn't want ask for help reaching the top of the fireplace.. When the venue was booked, family was told that we could pick up decor the next morning. Two weeks before the wedding, we were told that this wasn't an option anymore and we needed somebody immediately after the wedding to pack decor. We were told there was an event the next morning, however when we came back to pick up a car that was left and ran inside the next day, there was no event. When packing decor after the wedding, the coordinator made us take our trash with us (extra boxes for decor that were stuffed with various papers). She told us "Our dumpster is full from all of the other weddings this weekend so you need to take your trash." As the Sunday wedding of the weekend, it felt like they really only cared about the previous weddings of the weekend.
Again, the venue is beautiful and food was great. We expected more organization, to be treated a little kinder, and to have any questions/concerns addressed. If you book this venue, be prepared for a lot of last minute...
Read moreFrom strictly a golf play perspective I give the back 9 hole a 5 star rating and the front 9 hole 3 stars. I recently played here for the first time after hearing positive reports from other golfers. I was immediately impressed by the recently opened new club house, pro shop, and event hall. It is gorgeous.
On this day they had us start off on the recently renovated back side. It was everything you’d want in golf, challenging yet fair, interesting layout, great condition, and beautiful. Lush from the tee box on 10 to the final putt on 18. Then we made the turn to play the front nine and it was very disappointing. With active housing development all around the entire front nine, that side of the course is in need of help. As an example, the #1 hole tee box is not even a tee box. They just placed the tee markers in a section of old fairway. The fairways on many holes are a bit beat up and in need of some serious TLC. Unlike the back 9, the layout on the front nine was a bit boring. But on the positive, the greens were all in excellent shape. Don’t get me wrong, the front 9 is playable. It’s just disappointing after playing the awesome back 9 first. I do hear reports that the plan is to redo the front nine once housing construction is complete, so it matches the back side. If and when that happens Pembroke Pines could become a premier go to course in NH, assuming it stays public. Until then, only the back nine is worth getting really psyched about.
The after round restaurant/lounge that overlooks #18 is excellent. Great food,...
