I am not a local to this bar so this review will be biased. I have had 6 experiences with Dom and Ali's. I wanted to write a review since my first dine in experience 2 years ago so I have now hit my limit guys. Dom was my server that night 2 years ago, he ran down the history real quick of the restaurant with him, his sister and his family. He was friendly and told us to pick any seat past the bar area in which we did. He took our order and he conveniently upsold us on there $26 special. I am a sucker for a good meal but its not a $20 + dollar meal anywhere else especially as a special. 2 minutes later our beers were delivered and 2 minutes after that he asked us to move and said he will comp us our first beers for the troubles. I will fast forward that night, the service was very slow from then on and Dom conveniently forgot to comp us. I am not one to mention these items forgotten so shame on me for the business forgetting about our comp, slacking on our meals and future drinks once a bigger party showed up. 2nd time was a dine in, they were busy, service was terrible but we showed up when they were already busy "so our fault".
Next four times were take out since dine in was not in our favor. This includes tonight. I call ahead, always am told 20 minutes in which I wait to be there "20 minutes" later. I swear they literally place the order when I get there and after I pay. They have never been busy when I picked up the food, but I manage to uncomfortably stand by the bar while locals who are well known there go in and out of the bar bumping into me and making me feel unwanted While I wait another "20-25 minutes"
I get it...I am familiar to the local bar scene so I know when your not a regular you get treated different but this is why I choose take out. My friends and family joke that they will see me in 40 minutes when I do the 5 minute pickup trip to D&A's. If I know you guys want me to wait another 20 minutes il at least sit down and order a beer and a shot...more $ to you! but instead I get the "2 minutes hun" and your food will be ready every five minutes while I stand there. I've seen snatch, good movie!! I love comedies but don't need to play a scene from it every time I order take out guys.
The establishment seems very friendly to locals where everybody knows your name...The bar tender and servers seem friendly and I wouldn't go back if I didn't enjoy the food. But please for the love of God be faster on your dine in service and especially on time for dine out service. I don't feel its fair to be treated like a tourist " regardless if I was" just because you don't think I have a residence off of 903, I am hoping this review helps change this issue vs. turn...
Read moreWent here while on a trip with family. We had a big party and they were very accommodating, super friendly and nice staff. Very efficiently run. They decorate for Christmas and it is such a lovely atmosphere. Nice and quiet to enjoy dinner and quality time together. Food came out quickly. We got some appetizers and the only complaint there was their shrimp cocktail is only 4 shrimps and the stuffed mushrooms is only 3. For the price it just didn’t seem like a good portion. The French onion soup was delicious, not too many onions but the broth was so good. Chicken Parm Sub was the best I’ve ever tried, big portion. The burger I was told were amazing and the fries were fresh. Crab cakes were great. The special of the crab stuffed chicken a la vodka w/ rigatoni was delectable, big portion as well so there was leftovers. The crab stuffed flounder w/ rice left more to be desired personally, it wasn’t much flounder mostly the crab stuffing. This portion was a bit smaller so there was no leftovers. The spaghetti bolognese was a classic good meal, with leftovers. The chicken parm plate came with salad and that was all, two pieces of chicken. I think it could have had some small side of veggies or pasta. They bring out baskets of fresh warm seeded bread and plates of seasoning for dipping oil. The salads that come with the entrees were fresh and the housemade dressing took them over the top. My personal favorite the balsamic vinaigrette was the best I’ve had, I would buy that in bottles. My family got French and creamy Italian which both stood very good on their own. If I were to go back I’d be tempted to get a big salad and split it up so I could try all their dressings. I would try the steak next time, no one had actually gotten steak but with what we did get I don’t doubt the steak is delicious. We only got one dessert which was the tiramisu and it was mouth watering. I’ll definitely be coming back here if ever in the area again. They’re doing renovations to expand as well so you know they’re doing quite well. Another thing to add is their water was very good, crisp and cold. I personally judge restaurants based on how just a glass of water taste like and they pass that...
Read moreI recently hosted an engagement party at Dom n Ali’s, and the experience was nothing short of disastrous. Despite making arrangements with the owner well in advance, he didn’t show up for our planning meeting. This should have been a red flag, but we decided to proceed anyway.
We were promised the large area of the restaurant for our event, but upon arrival, we were crammed into a small room next to the kitchen with all the doors shut. When we raised our concerns, the owner dismissed them, saying it was a Saturday night and there was no way we could have the bigger section. This critical information would have been helpful before we spent money on decorations and arrangements.
The room was unbearably hot, making it impossible to enjoy the event. We immediately requested the doors to be opened, but it didn’t alleviate the discomfort. Due to the cramped space, we couldn’t use the decorations we had brought, and it was difficult to move around.
We were also promised a buffet-style setup, but this was changed at the last minute due to the small area. The restaurant brought out the wrong salads and food, served everything on plates without utensils for self-serving, and messed up all our orders. They even brought out dirty plates. When we complained, the staff gave us attitude. One server even walked away, saying we should have mentioned the issue before the salads were brought out.
Adding insult to injury, the next day we saw a post on their page showcasing a beautifully decorated party in the large room we were initially promised. This felt like a slap in the face, given our horrible experience. It was clear the owner did not care about how we felt and was only interested in taking our money.
Ultimately, the heat and overall poor conditions forced us to leave within an hour. This experience was a complete waste of time and money. I will never dine at Dom n Ali’s again and strongly advise others to...
