Mel's Place — Restaurant in Pennsylvania

!!!!DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!! I am the former cook and the kitchen conditions are absolutely disgusting and the owner is extremely neglectful with no care about cleanliness or the customers well being . First thing is there is a mouse problem that is not taken seriously at all mouse droppings were appearing very often all around the kitchen on the counters and I caught multiple mice at one point. before I cleaned it there was a mouse nest on the drip tray below the oven and that tray was also caked in mouse droppings the owner didn’t seem to care about this very much, there were also mouse droppings on the boxes of soda for the soda gun in the basement. Another huge problem is that the owner tells the cooks to use very past expired ingredients even after I told him I wasn’t comfortable using it I was yelled at, some things I was told to use was months old slimy ham, Tomato sauce that had mold on the sides of the container, Moldy tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese that had mold on it and ricotta cheese that had formed mold. Also for months I kept noticing these specs in the pizza dough I made in the mixer I was worried it was metal chunks because the mixer was broken (it would shake around and was unsafe to even use). When I told Mel the owner about this he didn’t seem to be worried at all and tried to tell me that that it was normal, not metal and nothing to worry about even though I tried to tell him it was metal multiple times. eventually my suspicions were confirmed and I made dough by hand for months which he wasn’t too happy about thankfully now there is a new mixer and that shouldn’t be a problem anymore but it is concerning how the owner would try to allow this to happen. Overall I would not trust the food here at all! with the instructions the owner gives to the cooks there’s no telling if your food is contaminated or expired. Also another thing is the owner had me use the fryer oil well after it should’ve still been used. If you are just going in to drink at the bar I’d say you shouldn’t have to worry about anything the bartenders are nice people but STAY AWAY FROM THE FOOD.

waited an hour (they were completely empty) for some burnt pizza and a burnt calzone. was told when i walked in it wasnt ready then the bartender who took my order went immediately outside to smoke a cigarette, so i went to my car to wait and a lady who was drinking at the bar had to come tell me my food was done. the bartender didnt even move. and my food was just sitting on a random table. very unprofessional. and very disappointed. dont come here if u want good service and good food im definitely...

Food was very good however I got sick immediately afterwards and normally when that happens to me that means that the kitchen isn't that clean. I ate the burger in the picture. My fiance ate the wings they were cold and he had to send them back. Instead of fresh wings they were microwaved...
