Update 01/19/2025. So basically the person responding(most likely the manager) is calling me a liar. Nice. Like I said. ATTITUDE!!! I may have had the names wrong. But it was a baklava that was soggy and a tuna that was stringy. Semantics. Original review: I was sooo looking forward to celebrating Christmas Eve here. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! First of all…they require a credit card with security code to make a reservation. They call to make sure you are coming. That’s 2 calls…but not once did anyone mention that the menu online would not be available. So we have our dinner planned out and when we get there find that only a couple of entrees are available and they have picked out your sides for you. No substitutions!!! Well. Broccolini and I don’t get along. ESPECIALLY doused in too much oil. Allergies. Also dried out twice-baked stuffed potatoes prepped in advance. NOT SO MUCH. This was discussed with server while ordering and wouldn’t you know it? The said veggie was on my plate saturating everything with its wonderful taste!!! I asked again for something else and was presented with green-yellow half rotten asparagus again dosed with a quart of oil and no seasoning. The quart of oil had already shown its ugly face on the charred romaine salad. By this point, I still held out hope for the ahi tuna that was the lesser of two evils, seeing I’m also gluten-free and no other options available this evening. The tuna had SOOOO MANY strings running through it I almost choked. By this point, the server had copped an attitude of condescension and the night was ruined. I was hoping against all odds that the dessert would be better but the baklava tiramisu was as dry as could be. So tough it couldn’t be cut!!! Did the real chef take off for Christmas Eve? Because all the reviews must be compensated otherwise! Well finally, when the bill came($140+ for two people!)a charge for the asparagus was the last straw. I brought it to the manager’s attention and was greeted with more attitude and asked her to remove the 20% tip that had been applied. I was told that was mandatory. It’s funny because we usually leave 25% if the server is even half pleasant and efficient. When I see groups of servers standing behind the counter cackling, I get a sour taste in my mouth. Especially when they are laughing and looking directly at me. Things were dicey in the kitchen, if you know what I mean. It’s amazing! We are new here. I can name plenty of places in Pensacola that welcome the seniors to dine there. This isn’t one of them. Stay away unless you like attitude! Sorry. No photos. I was too dumbfounded! I also waited to calm down to write this. But this place truly sucks! Oh. I forgot to mention that this place is the size of a hotel room. I felt so sorry for the young couple that were positioned looking directly at the front door 4 feet in front of them. Every time the door opened they practically played hostess. Not to mention the blast...
Read moreMy husband and I were really looking forward to coming here for a date night which we so badly needed. We have two little ones at home and we wanted some quality time together. The great reviews and pictures on the Pensacola Foodies group on FB encouraged me to book a reservation a few weeks prior.
Well, we arrive for our reservation and are escorted to a table in their outdoor seating area. It’s 96 degrees outside and even with their fans it’s still hot. We asked if we could be seated inside because at this point we’re just getting more uncomfortable and hotter as we sit there. The thought of ordering hot food and a cocktail is not appealing because you know, cocktails also raise your temperature. We’re told that the open tables we saw inside when we arrived are reserved and the bar that appears open is reserved as well. To be seated inside, we should have specified that we wanted to sit inside when we made the reservation, otherwise you’re just seated wherever. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I didn’t even see an option for seating preference when I booked the reservation. I’m not a regular and they way the hostess put it is that their regulars know how to navigate their booking system and the next time we come, we’ll know what to do. Listen, booking a reservation shouldn’t be a secret and there won’t be a next time. Most restaurants ask where you would like to be seated when you come in and if they only have outdoor seating, they’ll ask you if you’re okay with that, ESPECIALLY in this heat! We couldn’t fathom sitting in the heat after getting showered and nice to spend our green dollars to suffer to try to enjoy a meal so we left.
We’re always on the hunt for new places to eat for a nice night out. I was hoping to add this to our list. We’ve been to George’s, Jackson’s, The District, The Grand Marlin, and several others. We just tried DRIFT for brunch two weeks ago and had a wonderful experience there. I was hoping to add Agapi to our list, but it’s a...
Read moreWould not recommend for a special occasion. We had reservations for an inside table at 9 pm on Valentine's Day (we called a few weeks in advance and we're offered 9 pm inside or 7 pm outside, although 9 pm was late, we chose that in order to be able to sit inside). We arrived at 8:55 pm and we're told that our table was not ready and we could stand outside and wait. There were 3 other couples outside with us. At 9:15, the hostess came to another couple and said "I have an inside table available now if you would like that?" - which led us to believe that was our table, although I can't say for certain. At 9:20, the hostess came to us and said she could seat us at an outside table. We explained that we took the late reservation INSIDE to avoid sitting outside. To which she replied "there isn't a table inside, it will be at least 20 more minutes or we can seat you outside". If it wasn't already almost 9:30 by this point we would have left, but knowing that nothing would be open other than fast food, we stayed. No apologies or anything were offered for this frustrating situation. The food was good for the most part, I had the carpet bagger steak which was great, although the burnt potato cake next to it was not really edible. My husband had the Venison Ossu Bucco which was very good as well. Baklava cheesecake for dessert was 2/10, looked great, but impossible to cut into and really just not good. While I have had one other experience at this restaurant where the food was very good, I don't know that I will return, and would never consider it again for a special occasion. Oh, gratuity was added to our two person check, also. Pretty sure this was just because it was Valentine's Day, but still...
