I was there on 1/13/2025 and I thought about this overnight because I don't like posting negative reviews of small businesses but I feel like the staff should know that what happened yesterday felt inappropriate so I need to put this out there. We've been stressed and busy wedding planning so last night some friends took us out to sushi to relax. We ordered a lot of food and enjoyed it all, we've been here multiple times and always enjoyed the food and service. While we were still eating a waitress came up and asked if we were doing okay or if we wanted to order anything more and I asked if I could order some veggie tempura, she said yes and walked back to put in the order. A few mins later another sever brings us shrimp tempura, I let him know it was supposed to be veggie and that I actually couldn't eat shrimp, he goes "Oh one second" and walks over and grabs our menus (you write on them what you want) and shows that a shrimp tempura was ordered, I let him know that my friends had ordered shrimp tempura for themselves to eat earlier but that the lady had asked if we wanted anything more and I requested a veggie tempura. While still standing at our table with the plate he calls her over and says "what did she order from you" she looks at the plate and then at me and says "shrimp tempura" at this point I'm feeling really uncomfortable as an autistic person with rejection dysphoria this confrontational situation was extremely difficult to navigate, I stated again that I can't eat shrimp so I would not have ordered that and would like the veggie tempura OR he could leave the shrimp and my friends would eat that and I could just pay and leave I didn't need the veggie tempura anymore. The waitress rolls her eyes and goes "Wow okay no you didn't" and stormed off to the back. Like?? What did I do? Idk if she had to pay for the shrimp tempura mistake out of her own pocket or what might have warranted that reaction. The server saw what she did as well and then started asking me if I just wanted the shrimp or if I wanted them to correct the mistake, I said I didn't care anymore and I was at this point in full flight mode trying not to cry in a restaurant. He ended up taking the shrimp away and brought out veggie but I could also hear the chefs were upset with our table. Overall we spent well over $100 and as someone who has worked as a waitress i feel this was not handled correctly, what should have happened was when I told him the order was incorrect he should have taken it away and gotten the thing I was asking for, at no point would confronting someone like this ever resolve the fact that I said I can't eat shrimp due to an allergy. I feel like I can't come back because I felt really embarrassed and uncomfortable that they made such a scene with two other tables staring at us during this situation. I cried most of the way home from just sheer embarrassment and yeah I just don't want to come back. So if you go don't ask for anything after already ordering because any screw up and they will hold a full confrontation in front of everyone instead of just correcting...

If I could give zero stars, it would still be too generous.

Unbelievably, disgustingly rude staff. We didn't get to taste the food because they wouldn't serve my party in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. They discriminate against individuals with disabilities depending on what kind of medical aide you use and employee, Mr Kim, thinks it's hilarious as hell to publicly berate a disabled customer and to spit all over their civil rights. (I wonder if he does the same to people of color's civil rights, or if it's only the civil rights of disabled people he thinks is ok to violate.) Mr. Kim unnecessarily came out of the back, dragging another employee with him to watch, to intentionally berated and make fun of my disability in front of the waitress and my party (obviously the food isn't that good - the place was empty at dinnertime). He stated he wouldn't let us eat there because of my medical equipment (my highly trained service dog that was vested, freshly groomed and lying quietly out of the way on a mat I brought) AND had the unbelievable gall to question whether my disability was severe enough to justify my use of a service dog. After Mr Kim was done berating me in front of my party, the 3 employees then stood there and just stared at us for a very uncomfortable amount of time, making it perfectly clear that we weren't going to be served. So we left. And to add insult to injury, Mr Kim immediately started to sweep up the floor, but only where my service dog had been lying.

I contacted management and their pathetic excuse for an "apology" was nothing more than a comment, excusing for Mr. Kim's actions as a simple "misunderstanding" - as if my "disability" meant that I had to be mentally disabled as well and therefore I just didn't have the capacity to understand the situation. At no time did management take any responsibility for the abysmal, discriminatory way Mr Kim treated me or my party.

I have filed a Federal ADA Violation Complaint with the US Department of Justice and with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, Civil Rights Division. I run into accommodation problems every once in a while, and most times I can easily rectify the situation by explaining the law to the employees or the management. So I don't file formal federal complaints at the drop of a hat. Actually, after 6 years utilizing a service dog, this will be the very first time. But this time, especially after the pathetic "apology" I received from management, I felt I had no choice as their behavior was beyond deplorable and I couldn't allow them to treat anyone else that way. Hopefully a $50,000 fine will make them reconsider how they treat people with disabilities that utilize service dogs.

If you are against discrimination toward any person for any reason, do not give this place...

Don't let the high ratings and good reviews fool you on this sushi restaurant. It's quaint and nice and is clean but the service was absolutely horrendous. I took my nine-year-old nice for dinner, her choice. We walk in and are greeted by a staff member, he asked us just 2, I told him yes he showed us to a table that was right near the door on a cold rainy windy night. I asked him if it was okay if we sat away from the door and he seemed annoyed and he said yeah over there, and pointed across the restaurant to the table in this hallway/walkway area. We sat down ordered our drinks and it took us about 10 minutes to decide on what we wanted to order. The server's already seemed annoyed with us that it took 10 minutes for us to decide, when we got our food we got our appetizers with our Sushi all at the same time. They did forget our vegetable tempura and when I asked about it, one of the many servers, we didn't have a set server, told me that it was getting fried up right now. No one ever came by and asked if we needed refills on our soda which we did, they were doing the classic I'm going to walk and look away and act like I don't see your empty cup or see you trying to get my attention, move. I was finally able to get someone's attention for the check. I paid my bill and I did not leave a tip. I felt really disregarded there as a patron of the restaurant. My niece and I were ignored and perhaps it's because we weren't a big party of people and we weren't ordering the $14 rolls or we weren't ordering sake bombers. And when I asked for the check, I told the server that we never got our veggie tempura and he said oh of course I'll take it off the bill, of course you're going to take it off the bill you idiot we didn't even get it to eat it. The fact of the matter is whenever it's a small bill I always tip 100%. Even when it's subpar service I'll tip an amount but the fact that they ignored us and treated us like we weren't important because we weren't ordering a large amount of food, I decided to leave no tip. Even my niece noticed that they were treating us different and being more attentive to the tables with people drinking. I'm sure when they got my ticket and they saw no tip they knew why, and if they don't know now they know. Also as soon as we left the restaurant I immediately started feeling sick from the food. I continued to feel sick throughout the night and now this morning. I will never be back to this...

We live just a walk away from Nagoya (we are lazy and don’t walk), and passed the place by for a couple of years before working up the courage to try it out. You shouldn’t wait years. It’s in the Arrowhead area and in a little strip mall, but it is our favorite sushi place. The owner greets people from behind the sushi bar as they come in and occasionally sends out sample treats for people to try. They have daily specials and a good sized sushi menu. It may not be elegant like some of the other nearby sushi restaurants, but the food is very good, and likely a bit cheaper. Sake, Beer and wine selections are available, and are not terribly expensive. There usually is at least one or two families in the restaurant when we dine there. It’s great for kids, since it is ok to use your hands with sushi. They have multiple selections without raw fish. We like to start with a Jalapeño Bomb, which is essentially the restaurant’s fried, Japanese version of the Jalapeño popper. We could make a meal out of them. Our favorite rolls are the Seared Salmon roll, Crazy Roll, Arizona Roll, Queen Roll, Times Square Roll, and California Roll. The Seared Salmon Roll started off as a special and apparently was so popular it made it to the regular menu. I discovered the miso ramen recently and have gotten to where I order it every time. Tender pork loin, perfect broth, and a generous amount of ramen. I like to add chili oil to mine. Try it out. I feel like if it were in Japan, it would be the place the locals went to eat. It never feels rushed, and it’s a quiet place for conversation and tasty food.

As others have commented, it’s very hot and uncomfortable. It’s Arizona in the desert and they didn’t have air conditioning on. It was 80 degrees the day we were there and it gets up to 120. Staff is unorganized and as such there’s chaos, confusion and lack of communication. Our older waitress (she’s missing many front teeth) wasn’t friendly, didn’t speak or understand English well and didn’t know where the tables were so there was a lot of screaming back and forth which didn’t make for a pleasant experience. This is definitely more of a take out place that has a lot of tables but only one bathroom per sex. The California rolls were fresh, tasty and definitely recommended. My parents liked their udon soup. Note the udon in the bento doesn’t come with anything—no rice, miso soup or salad. The miso soup I ordered separately accidentally went to my mom because the staff doesn’t communicate well with one another. She ate my soup thinking it came with her bento and I had to ask for another one. Soup tasted like a salty mix. The spicy sashimi salad was disappointing as it had bad pieces of fish (diced and probably leftover and had skin on some) on mostly lettuce. Wouldn’t recommend. Service was poor. We had to constantly flag down the frantic waitress who was overwhelmed to get more tea or forks or anything else. They need more help during busy times. Overall I was a fan of the California roll but nothing else and I’m positive the soy sauce with the green cap was not lower sodium.

Nagoya has my vote for best sushi in the Arrowhead area. When you come someone immediately seats you to your table, unless it's busy and there is a waitlist. Honestly if I had to wait 30 - 40 mins it's definitely worth it. When the sushi is delivered to your table each tray is like a piece of art. Fresh Wasabi is like a wasabi in relish form (not the typical wasabi paste) is available with a small charge, not all sushi restaurants offer this treat.I highly recommend trying it.There is a happy hour served all day long. And daily specials change so make sure you check what's being offered the day you visit. If you want to have a sushi adventure there is a screen that shows the numerous specialty sushi rolls they offer. The servers are all very friendly and polite. The restaurant is extremely clean and organized. Hand sanitizer is available at the front door and at the pick up entrance. There is also desserts but I'm usually so full I never get a chance to try anything. My family and friends will continue having Nagoya satisfy our sushi taste buds. Sushi lovers should definitely give this establishment a try.10/10
