Candy's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Perry Township

whoever is in charge of hiring employees are very sexist. not sure why, but i’ve been going to candys for quite a while, and have never once seen a man behind the counter. I thought it was by chance and maybe that they just had more female applicants than male, until me and a few friends (male) decided to try to apply. we all tried during different times of the year, and we were all turned down. they gave the majority of us a different reason, which is a huge red flag. it may be a marketing strategy because maybe they are under the false impression that women bring in more ice cream sales, which would not make any logical sense, and at that point would just be using women to make a profit. either way, the way this country is built today is supposed to offer equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender, but clearly...

Awesome ice cream, and over all a great establishment! I usually like the atmosphere there, but the last time i went in (last month) the girls they had working there seemed kind of ditzy, i had to ask the one who helped me the same question like 3 times....other than that, this place is great, especially for the price! UPDATE June 2022 This place used to be amazing, I went there a few days ago, and I couldn't believe how rude the staff was, there was 3 of them (that I saw) and all 3 looked like they just lost their best friends! Then when interacting with them, it was so much worse, they literally seemed annoyed that they needed to help costumers... I wish Candy and her staff was back! When my daughter asked about getting ice cream after our 9 mile bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail, my father recommended that we we go to Candy's because they make their own ice cream. While we are still dealing with Covid-19, I was glad to see that we could order from outside. Service was friendly and quick. The ice cream selection was unique. I got one scoop of chocolate peanut butter fudge on a sugar cone for $1.95. I felt that this was a very fair price for good quality ice cream from an independent establishment.
