Mario’s Maples Supper Club 1401 Shooting Park Rd. Peru IL. 61354
The term Supper Club conjures up images of a by-gone era. The first supper club in the United States was established in Beverly Hills, California, by Milwaukee, Wisconsin native Lawrence Frank. Supper clubs became popular during the 1930s and 1940s, although some establishments that later became supper clubs had previously gained notoriety as prohibition roadhouses. Traditionally supper clubs were considered a "destination" where patrons would spend the whole evening, from cocktail hour to nightclub-style entertainment after dinner. Featuring a casual and relaxed atmosphere, they are now usually just restaurants rather than the all-night entertainment destinations of the past. Supper clubs generally feature "simple" menus with somewhat limited offerings featuring "American" cuisine. Menus include dishes such as prime rib, steaks, chicken, and fish. An all-you-can-eat Friday night fish fry is particularly common at Wisconsin supper clubs. Relish trays with items such as crackers, carrots, pickles, radishes, and celery are typically served at the table on Lazy Susans. Mario’s Maples Supper Club is more of a buffet now, although you still can order from the menu. They still maintain a more upscale interior with the table and chairs, the linen tablecloths and napkins and the crystal glassware and the candles. The “Buffet” offers a fairly traditional selection of vittles. The meats are fried chicken (gotta have that one in these parts), fried fish, ham and roast beef, all of which are good. The sides are fine as well, mashed potatoes and corn. The usual salad and mayo bar is included also. They also have a decent mostacciolli and something I liked a lot, tuna casserole. I really liked the rhubarb bars for dessert.

Read more8/30/25 We were back again just a week later. Sabrina, I made it a point to remember, was our waitress again tonight. Even the bar tender ask our waitress if that is the couple from last week, just by our order of wine! Sabrina is so nice, helpful, friendly and let us talk to her even while busy taking care of others. Tonight we enjoyed the buffet so that we could have a couple of servings of the wonderful salads. And, to try the chicken without having to order it as a complete meal, then having the roast beef. Read the rest of my previous reviews.
8/22/25 We had the opportunity to enjoy this place again. Our waitress, that was filling in, was so wonderful. Prices were fair, food was good, pretty large variety and a nice little salad bar with soup and dessert. The house, garlic, salad dressing is the best. And, they will sell you some of it to take home!!
I had not been here in several years, I guess I had forgotten about it. I'm glad we remembered it and tried it again! Staff was great, food was good, prices were fair and menu plus specials had a good verity. The best part was the great salad bar! Very fresh, clean and tasty!! Their house/garlic dressing is the best. Thank you and I can't...
Read moreWe just left today from this restaurant for a buffet style party. I didn’t have a terrible experience, it was just a lot that’s not up to standard for a restaurant. For starters, the first plate I picked up had a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of it, which made me wonder how well they clean the dishes. Following that, there was a piece of bread where the entire bottom of the piece was moldy. At this point I was still very willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Life happens. Then I went back to the table and started to eat my soup, there was a full bone in my soup. So I guess the chicken wasn’t separated completely? And then they kept mixing up drink orders. I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt because it’s a decently large party, and they just seemed very underprepared. I didn’t have the worst experience of my life, but I will not be going back. The fruit was good. I was pleasantly surprised to see strawberries...
