I can't remember leaving a restaurant because of rude employees before, but tonight was the night. I came in with my kids to get a treat dinner for them, and since it's Monday, Pizza Barn isn't open. As luck would have it, Grapelli's didn't have almost anything we wanted, despite it all being on the menu. They stopped cooking single slices a couple hours before we got there, and they couldn't make us roast beef because their slicer was broken. Not one of us who could actually get what we wanted.
So, that's okay. We were flexible. We figured out alternate orders, and that was fine. It wasn't fast with three kids under ten, but it wasn't terribly slow, either.
The woman behind the counter rang us up and it topped fifty bucks, which seemed like a lot for what we ordered. I logged into my bank quickly to make sure my debit had enough, and the employee asked me to move out of the way, saying it was rude to stand there when there were other customers waiting. (There was one fellow waiting who didn't seem particularly perturbed to me.) But being called rude by the employee of a mediocre pizza place where not even one of us could get what we wanted from the menu was difficult to believe. We left, but I asked for the manager or owner, as they can't expect to stay in business being rude to customers. The employee said she was the manager and refused to give me the owners name. So, I don't know who owns the place, but hopefully they'll find out about my experience from a review site.
Grapelli's? Their food is okay. Not the best by far, but not the worst. I won't miss it, and you won't either. Brady's, in the same plaza, is good food and good people, and if you want take-out sandwiches or pizza there are better places in town.
This place used to toss their pizzas, which was fun to watch, but I don't think they do that any more. Other reviews suggest that what I'm remembering was the old owners. Now they're just a sub-par strip mall sandwich shop with...

They are pretty pricey for what they are, if you ask for extra meat they charge you double rather than an up charge, and donât put on any extra meat (on any sandwich) The staff isnât the most friendly, understandably young kids on break, but we can be kinder and not feel like weâre walking into a high school cafeteria. Pizza is pretty good, but again pricey. I understand the economy everyone is having to charge a lot for little.
I wouldâve given this place a better rating if it wasnât for being up charged for no reason (multiple times) and just the lack of substance in a sandwich. Keep up your pizza though!
ACCESSIBILITY Very easy place to enter with a chair and plenty of room to move around, chairs are light and easy to place elsewhere. So if you want to grab a beer and a pizza, itâs an easy spot to navigate. I cannot remember for the life of me if they have a public restroom, if I return I will update my review. Given the building is newer if there is one, Iâm sure itâs a decent size, and dunks next door if that isnât the case. I will update my review if I return and review...
Read moreUpdate: The cheese pizza I've eating a few times now and it's tied for my favorite in town (if not ahead by juuuust a hair). The extra cheese is sooooo cheesy that we questioned if we really needed any extra cheese. For me the specialty pizzas still reign supreme here but I would now recommend the regular cheese. Updated to 5 stars because that was their only weak spot to me.
Now that the new owners have taken over the pizza is much better. Not my favorite plain cheese in town (that's my go to because I'm boring) but I tried a few of the specialty pizzas and I was split on what I liked. Again, I'm a plain cheese kind of gal but my boyfriend loves trying new combos. The meatball pizza he loved and it wasn't really my thing. Next time we got the spinach special and I loved it but my boyfriend wasn't a huge fan. Looking forward to trying more specialty pizzas. Prices seem reasonable and the pizza was fresh. Employees were super friendly and that goes a long way for me. Even though there was a line of people the young woman at the counter was patient and helpful with every person. Even the customer who was upset about having to wait in line for her call in order and voiced her displeasure to multiple employees was treated very kindly. Kudos...
