VERY helpful staff, always offering to be of assistance! I stayed for a week, in several different rooms, they were high quality; once there was a noisy heater, and one room needed mattresses rotated, but staff immediately took care of it. Bathrooms very new/modern. Would suggest adding railings on front stairs. They offered free refreshments, papers, and snacks/breakfasts/fruit at the office, along with the ice machine. The fridges in the rooms were VERY good, large, with real, separate freezers, so I could make my own ice cubes, too. TVs are huge, maybe a note reminding people to sign out of their Amazon accounts would be good :) But it was handy to be able to sign into mine. Very closeby to restaurants which deliver, there's a laundry service which delivers (I went there in person, it's close enough, I live in the area). Rooms on the right side of building have the river-view, very quiet. Staff always offering to help, when I had an upstairs room for one of the nights, they were offering to take my suitcase up the stairs. Housekeeping was very good, just required a request for it ahead of time. VERY helpful experience when...
Read moreHotel's business model is notable for the absence of any interface between the guest and a real human being. You are asked to preregister via smart phone (a device that not everyone has, or uses to fill out forms) and submit a photo of your driver's license. On the day of arrival, in lieu of a key, you get a code which you must punch in the door handle each time you open it.|Not the biggest problem, but then, having requested a "quieter room" (when reserving weeks in advance), we found ourselves in probably the noisiest one, with windows opening onto a busy highway 30' away. When I called for an explanation, I was told that, while my quiet-room request had been noted, the room we had been assigned was really the only possible one (although the hotel appeared no more than half full). Road noise early next morning was about what we had feared.|The room itself was fine - large and clean - but, based on this experience, I still think that if you can't have at least one person on site to receive guests, answer questions, and deal with eventual problems, you should probably not be in the...
Read moreHaving just moved back to New England and have been a Peterborough resident, I needed a local place to stay. I have family and friends in the area and will be coming here frequently now. Most places were outrageously priced, but Riverhouse was the most reasonable. The room was clean and huge. It's located right on the Contoocook River, which is lovely and also Concord Street. This allows for major access but is very busy with trucks, so walking was not very fun (although there is a sidewalk into town). One disappointing thing was that I was given a second floor room, and there was no elevator. I had to carry everything upstairs. If you have any special issues, please be aware of this because I was not told beforehand. Also, everything is pretty much self check. They don't have too many folks on premises. You're on your own. They have a decent system for everything, but if you prefer lots of attention, this isn't the place for you. I'm betting this is how they keep costs down. All in all, I recommend this little spot as an inexpensive, no frills stay in the village of...
