Love having this local coffee house around. It’s spacious, has fast internet, and the coffee is great plus way more affordable than those other spots that jacked up their prices. Met Nathan the first day I went, and he’s easily one of the friendliest baristas I’ve ever met. The service has been consistently good, and it’s become a solid third place to hang out. They’ve got books, games, and the music playlist is so good, you’ll definitely discover some new bangers as long as you get there before the Kali Uchis marathon. Regardless, I really want to see this place thrive because Lopezville is sooo boring! We don’t have that many third around the area to hang out and I can see this one be it. A place to study, hang out with friends, build a community, meet people, maybe you could write your first book there, find your future spouse, or discover your new favorite song.

I came to Black Brew Coffee in Weslaco to support a local business, but I won’t be back. From the moment I walked in, the attitude was awful especially from an employee named Ginelle. No greeting, no eye contact, just a cold stare like I was a nuisance. She was clearly annoyed when I asked about dairy-free options with her short answers and she ignored me when I asked how much longer the wait will be. Black Brew makes a great matcha, but as a regular, it was very disheartening to see their prices increase exponentially a few weeks ago from under $7 to nearly $10 for a 16 oz. drink. Still, they were kind enough to offer an educator discount, which helped some. Today, I was informed that they are no longer offering discounts for educators. Clearly all these changes render Black Brew a far too expensive option from now on....
