Taqueria Tepeque Pharr tx — Restaurant in Texas

I came to this restaurant based on good reviews and LET ME SAVE YOU FROM THAT NONSENSE. I was a party of 1 so I don't need a whole lot of attention, but was highly disappointed that NOT ONCE did anyone bother to ask me if my food was ok or ask me if I wanted a refill on my drink. Not even ONE time! And this struck me since I sat next to where the waiters are ...so I figured you'd notice me picking the food apart and that I have no drink. Not to mention when I initially called for the address the lady did not know the location of the business. I attempted to get ahold of the waitress "attending" me that day but she was busy chit-chatting and when I spoke louded to get her attention I appeared rude (despite her never coming back to my table even once after brining my food). The food was not very hot, at most warm. The ratio of meat and cheese to tortilla was sad, it was miserably exicuted to say the least. The waitress never mentions what the tacos actually contain or if they come plain with toppings on the side as some restaurants do. If you intent to come here be aware they come with your choice of meat, cheese, cilantro, onions, and beans. Personally I hate onions so this was an issue. None of the salsas are spicy, which I also found lacking as I like spicy salsas and I tried all 3. You do not get beans other than inside the tacos...or at least I did not get any offered. At the end of my meal I went up to the counter to pay my bill and the lady seemed bothered that I did not leave a tip, but I only tip based on service so if she ever reads this I whole heartedly apologize, but the service was awful and could use alot of...

So I’m not even going to sugar coat it, the place is welcoming but the service and food was wack. We tried it because of a foody influencer FORK IT in which he was too nice in his review because ain’t no way he’s talking about the same place. Count your days Fork it 😂 I’m very disappointed. Don’t listen to everything you see people! Well our experience yesterday being taco Tuesday we thought we had gotten lucky bc of the taco deals. A single waitress handled us and it was a while we sat there before we got acknowledged. A initial cheese chips that are complementary with frijoles were cold! We asked for charros not knowing they were a separate fee and the caldo was watered down tasting like it had fish consomé instead of chicken lol the tacos weren’t that great and the potato isn’t a potato. They basically boil to soften the potato and make it mashed to scoop it onto a foiled bowl and melt the cheese. We would gladly continue to take a drive over and again a thousand times all the way to Mercedes TACOLANDIA than this and we are pharr locals! The price for two adults and a child was ridiculous. My ten year old rated it two stars bluntly then and there, even she couldn’t believe it was that much for just us. And lastly our favorite, the grand total for three drinks, 8 tacos, one papa, and two small charro bean cups (again unknowingly they are a separate fee NOT complimentary) all for $34.54. Made a curbside order & the person I spoke to was attentive but they didn't give me grilled onions which I specified and no cilantro. Only gave me one small half a lime. The corn tortillas were extremely small. The beans weren't even filled to the top only 3/4. They were boiling hot even after I got home. Burned my mouth.
