They’re very rude and can’t take constructive criticism due to arrogance. I really wanted to support a new local bakery, but my experience here was disappointing on multiple levels. The staff came across as rude, one even told me “well you don’t know what it takes to put the work into this bakery, if you did know the work you’d justify the price.” Honestly, that attitude says it all. Just because you put in work doesn’t mean you get to overprice items lol if that were the case, every restaurant would be charging outrageous amounts.

What makes this even worse is that Bogarts is pricing itself higher than bakeries in Austin… a city known for being expensive. For example: • A breakfast bagel here is $10.75. At Teal House in Austin it’s $9, and at Quack’s it’s $6.50. • A single slice of cake here is $10.75. In Austin at Quacks a slices is $6.

The difference is that Austin bakeries are at least somewhat justified considering rent and business costs there are substantially higher. Bogarts, on the other hand, isn’t located in a high-rent plaza or in the heart of the city, and business costs in the RGV are some of the lowest in the country CONSIDERING THIS IS THE MOST POOR AREA IN THE COUNTRY. Outpricing Austin while having dramatically lower overhead is not only unjustified, it comes across as tone-deaf and arrogant, especially in a region that is literally the lowest-income area in the U.S.

Between the rude service and the out-of-touch pricing strategy, I honestly can’t recommend this place. Edinburg deserves better. When a business prices itself above larger-city competitors while offering less in terms of service or hospitality, it risks coming across as tone-deaf and even a bit arrogant.

I think this bakery COULD have potential, but unless there’s a major shift in customer service and pricing strategy, it’s hard to see it thriving long-term in this area.

Which btw my parents own a chinese restaurant where everything is made from scratch AND THEIR PLATES ARE CHEAPER THAN THEIR SINGULAR SLICE OF CAKE and takes WAY MORE WORK than baking does so truly reflect on attempting to tell me “I don’t know the work that goes into it” as you try to justify being overpriced. And in response to the worker who wanted to brag about their degrees as I tried to give them valuable marketing advice, no one cares if you guys have degrees, you clearly don’t have one in marketing otherwise proper market research would’ve been done & been reflected in your pricing model but you yourself gave it away as to why you’re overpriced — pure entitlement bc you feel you “put it so much work no one would understand”…why aren’t Mexican bakeries priced this way out of curiosity?

I will say their biscuit sandwich was very delicious however I think a justified price for it would be around $8 with all the other factors I mentioned above considered. I also forgot to mention they charge $2 for a little side of green siracha & give the breakfast sandwich with no cream cheese/sauce. Another review stated they spent close to $60 on 2 sandwiches, 2 lattes, & a cookie…. Mexican bakeries also make their food from scratch & offer dessert + pastries + cakes yet they’re not price gouging. This business feels entitled to price gouge because the variety of food in the valley is so limited with not many other places selling breakfast bagels, especially in edinburg. There is only one other place in edinburg that sells breakfast bagels and they’re a food truck.

As a consumer their food is good. As a marketer their pricing model is a form of market-insensitive overpricing which in other words is exploiting local customers who don’t have the disposable income to pay those rates. That’s not “premium,” it’s unethical and tone-deaf. Just because they put in the work doesn’t justify exploiting the community nor having bad attitudes when called out for it by an accredited professional WHO GETS PAID to help companies when there is a misalignment between the brand & the market. 4Ps of marketing, Product, Placement, Price, Promotion. Marketers are hired...

A Must-Visit Coffee Spot!

I came in from Austin this weekend, and my sister-in-law insisted we check out this new coffee place she’s been raving about—and now I totally get why! The bakery was absolutely beautiful and spotless, and the staff were so warm and welcoming.

One sweet detail that really stood out: I asked about the paint color on the wall (because it was stunning), and although they didn’t know it right away, they actually found out and told me after I got my food. That little touch of thoughtfulness totally made my day!

I ordered the iced strawberry matcha and the everything bagel breakfast sandwich with ham, bacon, and cream cheese. The total was $26, which felt a bit steep at first—until I saw the size of that bagel! It was massive and definitely shareable. And the matcha? Absolute perfection. Creamy, fresh, and the strawberry purée was out-of-this-world good.

If you’re looking for a cute spot to hang out with your girlfriends or plan a casual date, this is the place to go. I’m already planning my next visit!

Big shoutout to Priscilla, who told me she designed the space—she’s an interior designer and did such an incredible job! The vibe is just as delicious as the food.

Went here to try their pistacho cloud latte sadly it was sold out. I did try the cookie butter latte and a chocolate loaf bread. I really like the latte but I do think it’s a bit overpriced. I was sad cause the cookie butter spread wasn’t actual biscoff spread. The cookie however was so buttery and soft. The latte itself is good. The bread with chocolate was also very nice. Hopefully I get to try the pistachio soon.

Update: Been here more times and ill def say that the bagles are the best thing specifically the the breakfast because the salmon one is not really special and very expensive. The lattes are so good too. Their strawberry matcha latte and Dulce de Leche is so so good. It's def on the pricey side but its def worth the visit. I'm very happy to know their business goes so well. Although i will say that sometimes the service can be a little different. I would always ask if the bagel can be sliced since they are so big so I share mine, and suddenly the worker said they are not allowed to slice them anymore which I thought was funny. Also if you order anything on the menu with certain adjustments, it's...

The brownie: seems very simple but it has an oreo and chocolate chip cookie layer 😋. The chocolate cake: delicious frosting and whipped center frosting 🤤. Not overly sweet. The pistachio cherry cake: was unconventional, but yummy! Sweeter than the chocolate. Didn’t try the beautiful white cake. The frosting was good though, tasted like coconut flakes. :) In sum: we got 4 generous pieces of pastries for $40. Honestly though, each slice of cake is like 3 servings. Hope my review helps! God bless, Jesus saves!! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥
