I flew in from Detroit to support this local business. I was elated after seeing the active Instagram post. To my surprise it was nothing like I expected. The wait was over 1hr. after ordering. The customer service was horrific. Not to mention disregarding my Midwest mannerism. I watched the workers drop seasoned chicken on the floor and quickly start tossing them onto the counter. They realized I was watching then started to sweep them up with a broom and dustpan and tossed the remaining into a trash can. This experience took rudeness/unprofessionalism to another level from the staff to the local customers.
To top it off the food was terrible. The cabbage smelled and tasted spoiled, the string beans were half cooked. The salmon wasn’t well done. The whiting fish was all skin NO meat. I was vomiting and going to the restroom all night upon my return flight back home the following morning. I knew I had food poison.
I’ve made every attempt to reach out to the owner Saudia Shuler via email, instagram (direct message) called the 3 different numbers that were posted and received a sorry I can’t talk right now via TEXT. My appetite to say the least was ruined. I will NEVER support this establishment again and I wouldn't recommend traveling from another state. What a waste of hard earned money on my vacation!
I forgot to mention the nice gesture of noticing a piece of lemon cake had fallen on the floor and opened up. So many customers said it wasn’t there problem. I picked it up handed it over to the cashier. She literally snatched it from my hand. While a customer standing besides me told her she should give me some lemonade after what I did. The cashier shrugged her shoulders and said people do it...
Read moreThis place is definitely just hype🙃 obviously it has become very popular so I’ve always wanted to try it. I got Cuban Turkey Wings w/rice and due to lack of available sides I got Cabbage and Seafood Salad. Proportions are great so that’s not an issue. The turkey wings were tender but not the best flavor and they said they don’t sell gravy so I just had it with plain rice😒The only thing I liked was my cabbage. The seafood salad I got and the potato salad my friend got was horrible nothing tasty about it at all and on top of that salads were so cold that there was ice chips mixed in it. ((Turn the fridge down or take some out ahead of time to defrost)) Now let’s talk about this Blue Juice... I saw everyone buying it even my friend ordered some. So when I went in to grab our food I asked for 2 juices... that mess was so thick and slimy when it hit my mouth. My friend and I both leaned over and spit it out in the street. I went back in to ask was it supposed to be like that and the girl said yes cuz it’s so much sugar in it. It was literally like drinking syrup thru a straw... Obviously I only tasted the food I chose but I hear others sitting out there eating talking about the food most was like it’s ok not much to write home about some complained about saltiness and that’s why I say it’s HYPE.... I suggest if ur a good cook like myself u will be better off making ur own meal and saving ya money and disappointment!! We ditched that stuff and drove around the corner to...
Read moreWent to this place about 1 month ago after seeing her IG page. I love soul food and supporting a black owned business so I decided to check it out. After waiting for about 1 hour I received my food. I got the Cuban turkey wings with rice, yams and mac n cheese as well as a red drink that I can't remember the name of. Unfortunately, I cannot give this restaurant 5, 4 or even a 3 star review. The food taste like meat, all of it, even the mac and cheese. Almost as if everything received the same seasoning as the turkey wings. The rice was bland and not tasty at all. The drink taste like PURE SUGAR. Hands down, it was the sweetest thing I have ever had in my whole life (not in a good way). When I got home I had to pour out half of it and dilute it with water...and it still was too sweet. If I had to give a comparison, it was about 3x sweeter than a McDonald's sweet tea. The only item that was decent was the candy yams. I honestly couldn't eat the entire meal, not because the portions were large, but bc I was unsatisfied with the food. I wanted so badly to like the food (bc of the long wait, $18 bucks, and a black owned business), but I can't like the food if it just isn't good. Wishing County Cooking well with their business, and hopefully improvements will be made...
