Rocket Burger & Subs — Restaurant in Phoenix

My husband heard their commercial on the radio one day. Well on Mon. 10/3/22 we where in the area and figured to give them a try. Well first off the lady was very pleasant that took our order, the whole staff was very pleasant. Secondly they are way high priced for a sandwich shop. More high priced than Blimpie, and Subway(except on their new select sandwiches), and Jimmy John's. We ordered combos and omg they charged us $8.49 for 8 onion rings, and $5.79 for a small fry which was not a small to me. We where flabbergasted when she told us $40.03 for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks which was included in the high priced sandwiches and our 2 sides. We know prices are high everywhere but that is ridiculous to have such high prices on your onions rings for such a small amount. We can get more for our money elsewhere. We thought making them combos it would include the price for the sides like the drinks but we where way wrong on that. On top of it all they have glass doors for their coolers full of all kinds of soda that you can plainly see without opening the doors but yet 2 of their customers that came in for just a few sodas would stand there first looking with the doors closed. Then they would open one of the cooler doors, which froze us out because the table we sat happened to be right in front of the cooler door. They would just stand there looking before deciding which ones they wanted, they didn't care about other customers. Our biggest problem are the prices for the onion rings and fries. Thought I'd try something new and not too far away from home. Upon entering, the layout reminded me of old stores in Mexico. I was greeted be very friendly staff. I was amazed at the 9 refrigerators full of all types of bottles of soda. My sons would have a hay day there trying them. I almost bought a Butterscotch flavored soda called Rocket Piss just for the name. They even had fountain craft sodas in 5 different flavors such as black cherry and snozzberry. Tasty! The food seemed a little high priced, but the portions were big. I ordered a cheeseburger and the patty was too thin in comparison to the bun. The bun was tasty and soft. I tried their homemade "Rocket Sauce," which was thousand island dressing and IDK what else. Green spicy specks. Yuck! I didn't like it. My 17 y/o didn't like it. He thought the bacon in his burger tasted strange. He ordered fries which was a separate cost and the flavor reminded him of Wingstop fries. I ordered onion rings, which had some odd flavoring sprinkled on them and were super salty! Not recommended for those with high blood pressure! They smelled weird ( I'm sure it was the flavoring). What I did like was that they cut holes in the containers to let the steam out, which kept them from getting wilty and wet. Great job there! When I got home I realized a sandwich was missing so I had to go back to pick that up. They were apologetic about that. Friendly staff made my visit better than if I would have based this solely on food taste. Will go back to try sodas, but will never order food...

I was hoping this place was going to be cool, however i was wrong. I placed an order online due to being at work and only had 30 mins. I arrived on scene to very little parking spots. When i walked inside, there was a line by the door. NOWHERE does it state online order - pick up here -. Neither is there someone by the counter accepting pick ups. I ended up waiting in line even though I already ordered in advance. That wasted roughly 15 mins. As i approached the counter, It was A Asian women who didn't understand much English and 3 gentleman in the back. As i was requesting to pick up my order, the phone in the back started ringing. One of the gentleman came from the cooking line and answered the phone with his gloves STILL ON. After the call had ended, he went back to the line and started handling the meat. I said that man is supposed to remove his gloves then wash his hands and place new gloves back on. I all of a sudden was not hungry anymore. I was furious with the uncleanliness of this establishment. I informed the Asian women but she did not understand me. I said i am paying for my drink which was the Butterscotch Root beer and that was all. I WILL NOT be returning to this restaurant after that. BEWARE of the contamination at this place.
