This once a home from the 20’s and converted to a Steakhouse Restaurant in the 40’s has become a landmark, mainstay and go to place for Western ambience, Mesquite grill meats and an incredible view of the Valley hardly surpass anywhere else in the Valley. Their selections of Mesquite grilled meats include but not limited to: grilled Salmon; pan-fried Trout; smoked chicken; pork chops and burgers! On our last visit we enjoyed a perfectly grilled 8 oz Filet Mignon, perfectly medium and my 16 oz perfectly rendered medium rare T-Bone steak, and all meals come with a Salad Bar; tender and tasty Cowboy Beans; their fresh Honey Whole Wheat Bread and of course Butter. The ideal time to visit is just before dusk so you can enjoy vast views and beautiful nature, a great steak and amazing vistas of the Valley in daylight and as the lights begin to glitter in the distant Metropolis of Phoenix. Addition: They’re not kidding around when it’s said they have great steaks at this super casual steakhouse! Although not the best steak I’d had in my life, it pretty much came close! Really close. When you ask for medium rare, by golly, that’s what you get! Thick, juicy, tasty and fabulous. This former home-turned resto in the 40’s is definitely an Arizona thing. No frills, forget the doilies, come stomach empty, open minded, and be a meat lover! Of all the steak joints I’ve experienced in the Valley, T-Bone has one of the widest variety and selection of the carnivores dream. They’ll offer you Porterhouse, T-Bone, Bone-In Rib Eye, Boneless Rib Eye, Filet Mignon, New York Strip, Top Sirloin, or for the non-meat lovers, Grilled Salmon, a Pan-Fried Trout, Smoked ½ Chicken, Pork Chops, and full ½ Pound Cheeseburger! Now that’s a selection. Everything here is simple, steak and a couple of sides. You get to have a Salad Bar, some savory and tasty Cowboy Beans and pretty darn tootin’ good honey whole wheat bread and butter. And, let me not forget, the views whether from inside seating, or outside under the overhang, you know you’re in the West. The visual experience of Phoenix, and the Valley of the Sun are incredible – whether you see it in the afternoon, at dusk or in the evening, T-Bone has one of the best views of the Vally of the Sun anywhere. One afternoon, my wife and decided it was time to have ourselves a back to basics, old fashioned, southwestern, dinner – old west style. My wife enjoyed a perfectly rendered medium Filet Mignon. I, on the other hand, went for the medium rare, bloodier than not, T-Bone steak. Now, this may seem odd to some, but I’m curious… where do the meats at T-Bone Steakhouse come from. They seem to be all marvelous cuts. Why keep it a secret, it’s nowhere to be found online! If you’re ready for basics, excellent meat, no frills, just bloody meat, this is the place. If you want fancy trimmings, there’s quite a few places out there we...
Read moreI went out to dinner to T-Bone Steak House for the first time on Saturday, August 10th. In total I spent $137 ( Before Tip) for two T-Bone steaks, two mash potatoes and three Amaretto Drinks.
Amaretto Sours: $24 or $8 each Mash Potatoes: $13 or $6.50 each T-Bone Steaks: $100 or $50 each
Food:
Me and my fiancé both got T Bone Steaks and oh man it was delicious! loved it and did not need any steak sauce. Nice and juicy and medium rare how it should be. Although my fiancé she got medium bleh. I also got some mashed potatoes with it but they were not all that just some bland mashed potatoes with the skins. The salad that comes with the steak was TINY! a very small bowl of salad about the size of my palm. Also the butter was as solid as a rock when trying to smear it onto our un toasted slice wheat bread.
Service:
I had a reservation and when we got there, we told the hostess and she did not look at a list or anything and just here is a table. That is kind of strange what would be the point of a reservation then? once we sat down I got a amaretto Sour and it was great! could not taste any alcohol which could lead to some great times ;) but i did not want to drink more since i had to drive :(. The drinks and out water came fast so we were always hydrated. When taking my order the waitress had asked what we wanted for a side with our steak and my fiancé and I asked for mashed potatoes. What we were not told is that it was extra and if I knew that I would not have ordered any extras. We also got out cowboy beans mixed in a bow for all of us to eat even though I feel like it should have been separated since we all ordered our own steaks? I am not sure why all our cowboy bean sides would be mixed together.
Atmosphere:
I saw the menu of this place before looking at pictures of this place and I was think a place that is fancy shmancy but I was wrong. it is some rundown old wood building with creaky benches to sit at your tables with a wet cloth. I also did not know they had a entertainment thing going on and if you are all about that go for it but I like to eat without blasting my...
Read moreWas an ok experience that should have been better for the price you expect to pay at a steakhouse.
Food The steaks are why you come and I have to admit weren't bad. The boneless ribeye melts in your mouth full of flavor. The T-bone was well seasoned, but I've personally had better. That's probably the only positive thing I can say about the food. Each meal comes with a side salad, beans, and bread with butter. You can order extra sides a la carte, which is stranded. The salad was a little small, but they had a decent choice of dressings. The beans were tasteless and cold. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out of a can. The bread was literal cuts of sandwich bread with butter that was so cold you couldn't spread it without tearing the bread. We had ordered a side of their red skin mashed potatoes, and they were so dry and lacked any flavor.
Drinks This is my own personal gripe that I just couldn't get over. I had ordered an old fashion to have with my steak. I was bewildered when they brought me a glass full of some bubbly drink. I immediately ask the waitress what this is and why it's carbonated. They respond, stating they top off the old fashioned with soda water! I decided to have a sip of it and send it back right away. I can't seem to understand how they could ruin such a simple drink.
Ambiance The steak house had a beautiful view of the city from the mountain side. It's a very old western looking building that has its own charm. Unfortunately, I feel like they lean a little too into the old western vibe as the restaurant is incredibly dim, and we had to use the flash lights on our phones to be able to read our checks. They did have live music when we went Saturday, and he did take requests, which was rather nice.
All around, just not a great experience as you would expect paying steak house prices. It was an experience, to say the least, but it is definitely one I don't...
