After seeing the dozens of posts and comments on our local social media forum about Candy Man's burgers and being a true burger fanatic, I jumped in head first when I finally had the opportunity to go check it out for lunch.
Me and my buddy were the 2nd customers there just a few minutes after 11am. The first customers were just about done with their meal and were asking for to-go boxes. I ordered the Smash Burger (not to be confused with a typical smash burger where the meat patty is smashed down thin on the griddle and smothered in a slice of American cheese.) He can correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe Mr. Leroy named this burger "Smash Burger" because you bout to SMASH this burger. It's that good.
4 slices of 4 different cheeses meet together on top the burger patty and then lay partially off the side to form a quadrant of crispy, charred, slightly salty and creamy goodness all in one. It pairs perfectly with the little mini-Solo cup of delicious (I assume house made) burger sauce he gives you. Fresh fluffy and toasted bun, perfectly cooked meat patty cooked the way you want it. Add the lettuce and tomato if you want but I went just meat, cheese and sauce. I folded the crispy edges of charred cheese to the top of the patty so I could create the ultimate bite of everything at once. It gives you all the textures a true burger lover desires in a good burger.
Definitely the most unique burger around here that actually makes sense, is easy to eat and doesn't make you feel like you have to repent afterwards. It's now my favorite burger in town.
I'm not a fan of homemade fries but these were great. Not soggy like most homemade fries, they had a little crisp.
I can't leave out how delicious their homemade brownies are. So good the extra mile on the treadmill is worth it.
As a burger lover, I highly recommend the Smash Burger from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLeroy, you my friend have an incredible personality! But I have to be fair about my review so here we go.
Positives: First of all, we LOVE the way you made us feel right at home. When we walked in we didn't know what to expect, but afterwards we enjoyed every minute. The service was excellent, I have no complaints about that what-so ever. Cleanliness was good as were the prices also.
Negatives: This one was tough, but I only review out of love and respect. The food wasn't the best sadly. We're not sure if the burgers were fully cooked through or not. They were pretty bland tasting and it almost made my significant other nauseous and the pickles were not that good. The fries were good though, we both enjoyed those. It was pretty hot inside the building too, we were almost sweating while waiting.
Overall: Leroy you nailed it. We loved the personality and the way you treated not only us, but everyone else too. We had a lot of good laughs at all your jokes too. My advice? Keep up the good work! People like me LOVE to feel welcomed and at home, and you did just that. We will be back one day! With love...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDon't let the out of the way location fool you - Candy Man's has one of if not the best burgers I've ever tasted. The menu is simple - burgers, fries, drinks and a collection of candies and brookies - but it doesn't need to be more complicated than that, because what he's cooking up is A+ delicious. I'd advise you try yours with the grilled onions; the perfectly caramelized slices are excellent with the sweet bun and seasoned meat.
In addition to the great food, the proprietor himself is an absolute peach of a guy! I always enjoy talking to him when I stop in, and he's always looking for ways to make his food better and his customers happier. It's clear how much love he's putting into the place, and I really appreciate that.
And to top it all off, the prices are crazy reasonable. At under $8 as of writing, the burger plates here are cheaper than Wendy's or Burger King, AND you're supporting a local family business with better food! Ain't nothin here not to love, so if you haven't made the trip out to try this place out, you...
